The Effectiveness Of Using VOA Learning English Youtube Channel In Teaching Speaking At The Tenth Grade Of MA Asadiyah Mattirowalie

This research was conducted to find out whether or not the use of VoA Learning
English YouTube channel effective in teaching speaking at the tenth grade
students of MA As’adiyah Mattirowalie. The researcher applied a quantitative
approach and used a pre-experimental design. The researcher used one class as the
experimental class. The populations of this research were 63 students of class X
MA As'adiyah Mattirowalie. The researcher took class X MIPA as a sample in
this research and the number of students was 31. Data was collected by the
following procedures: pre-test, treatment application, and post-test. After getting
the test scores, the data were analyzed and processed using the t-test formula in
SPSS. The result of this research showed Mean in the pre-test was 59,52. Whereas
the post-test Mean score was 80,32. It showed that students who are taught by
using VoA Learning English YouTube channel videos media got better score than
the students who are taught by using text book media. In improving learning
outcomes, it can be shown by a significant comparison of the average difference
before and after using the VoA Learning English YouTube channel in teaching
speaking and the value of t count = 13,362 while t table = 1,69726 with a significance
of 0,000. So it can be concluded that t count > t table, it means that H1 is accepted,
that is, there is a significant difference in learning outcomes after using the VoA
Learning English YouTube channel in teaching speaking.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion, the researcher concluded that the use
of VoA Learning English YouTube channel was effective in teaching speaking
skill at the tenth grade students of MA As'adiyah Mattirowalie. It was proved
from the result of the test showed that there was a significant difference between
students pre-test and post-test. Where the mean score in the pre-test was 59.52 and
post-test was 80.32 it means that the mean score of post-test was higher than pre-
test. Therefore the calculated significance value is 0.000 less than 0.05. The t count
is 13,362 and the t table is 1.69726, so the t count is 13,362 > t table is 1.69726. So
based on the basis of decision making through comparison with t count and t table it
can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Which means the use of
VoA Learning English YouTube channel was effective in teaching speaking. It
cou that the use VoA Learning English YouTube channel was effective in
teaching speaking especially about self-introduction at the X MIPA class of MA
As’adiyah Mattirowalie in the academic year 2021/2022.
B. Suggestion
After describing the conclusions above, the researcher will then describe
the suggestions, the suggestions that the researchers mean are as follows:
1. For teachers, you can use the VoA Learning English YouTube channel as
a medium in learning speaking, to improve students' speaking skills.
2. For students, they are required to be more diligent and active in learning
so that the learning outcomes obtained are better.
3. For further researchers, the results of this study can be used as a
reference for conducting further research, especially research on the
effectiveness of using VoA Learning English YouTube channel in
teaching speaking.
