Observing of Teaching English Pronunciation by Using Tik Tok Application at SMAN 3 Bone

This research aimed to know the processes and the contributions of the Tik Tok
application in teaching English pronunciation. It employed descriptive qualitative
method, while the participants were the teacher and the students of the high school.
The data were collected through the observation lists and interview of the English
teacher and the 35 students of eleventh grade. As the result of the 6 items questions in
students‟ observation list and 6 items of teacher‟s observation list, even the 10 items
of the interview, there was 5 processes of teaching English using Tik Tok application
such as, delivered, explained, conveyed the lesson in the app and then imitated how to
pronounce the vocabulary, even the simulation could be done through the application.
In other hand, the contributions of the Tik Tok application in the teaching English
pronunciation are 3 items, such as a media to stimulate, a media to practice, and a
media to improve the students English pronunciation mechanic.
A. Conclusion
The researcher found that the Tik Tok application was a good application to
use in teaching English especially pronunciation. While according to the objectives of
this research, the researcher found the processes of the teaching activities and the
contributions of the Tik Tok application in teaching English pronunciation in several
points.
First, the researcher found that the processes of the teaching English
pronunciation done by the teacher according to the data found from the observation
and interview, such as the teacher delivered text from internet to be learnt by students
through the Tik Tok application, taught it similar to the native speaker in the content
of Tik Tok application, communicatively, conveyed vocabulary and asked students to
watch it continually through the content in the Tik Tok application, explained how to
pronounce the vocabulary and practiced it same to the native speaker, and gave
simulation and evaluation through the content of the Tik Tok application that related
to the topic, such as imitating words or vocabulary.
Next, the researcher found that the contributions of the Tik Tok application in
teaching English was showed through the students’ observation list and the teacher
interview which are, the Tik Tok application as a media to stimulated students
interest in the teaching-learning English pronunciation, as a media to practice the
students English pronunciation skill; and as a media to improve the students English
pronunciation skill.
Therefore, the data found in the processes in teaching pronunciation and the
contributions of Tik Tok application in teaching English pronunciation according to
the observation and interview has been analyzed.
B. Suggestion
Considering the conclusions above, some suggestions are presented in this
part. Therefore, the researcher would like to give some suggestions to teachers,
students, and other researchers, described below:
1. For English Teachers
The teacher should use media that can help the teaching learning process
going well, and Tik Tok application could be one of he media that teachers could
use, especially in teaching English pronunciation.
2. For Students
The students should realize the use of the Tik Tok application except as
an entertaining, the Tik Tok application could be the teaching-learning media
especially in English pronunciation skill.
3. For Other Researchers
The other researcher could use this research as references to find more
interesting thing through the process and contribution of the Tik Tok application
in teaching-learning English pronunciation and improve the skill, although it is
not perfect.
