Samsinar/ 02.18.4023 - Personal Name
This thesis presented the research about code mixing used by the teacher in
English hybrid learning mode. This research used qualitative method and an
observation checklist. The researcher used one teacher as the subject and random
sampling for the four students who were interviewed. The researcher conducted
an analysis of the recording transcripts of the hybrid learning process or offline
learning and online learning.
The result showed that the researcher found a lot of code mixing that were done
by the teacher in the hybrid learning system, both during the offline class and
online class. 74 code mixing in types of code mixings in offline learning found,
while in online learning, only 12 code mixing types found. The code mixing
found at levels of code mixings is the same as that in types of code mixings, in
offline learning there are 74 as well and in online learning there are 12 code
mixing. In addition, the teacher use word more than the other code mixing. There
are 52 word in the type of code mixing used by the teacher and there are 40 word
in the levels of code mixing used by the teacher.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result and analyzing discussion of the previous
chapter, the researcher concludes such as follows:
1. After analyzing the data, the researcher found a lot of code mixing that
was done by the teacher in the hybrid learning system, both during the
offline class and online class. There are 74 code mixing in types of
code mixings in offline learning, while in online learning there are
only 10 code mixing types. In the types of code mixings section,
namely intra-sentential, 44 were found which included the types of
words, 8 phrases, and 21 sentences. Then in intra-lexical, there is no
prefix and there is only 1 suffix. While in the section involving a
change of pronunciation no data was found.
2. Code mixing in the level of code mixing, in offline learning there are
74 as well and in online learning there are 10 code mixing. Some data
were also found in the levels of code mixings section. There are 33
word levels of code mixings, 9 phrases of code mixing, 1 baster level
of code mixing, no rsepetition level of code mixing, 11 level of code
mixing idioms and 20 clause level of code mixing. This proves that the
number of code mixing at the code mixing type is the same as the
number of code mixing at the code mixing level. When compared, the
researcher found that the teacher did more code mixing in offline
learning compared to online learning. It means in hybrid learning the
teacher did code mixing more in online learning than in offline
learning.
3. In the types of code mixing section, it can be concluded that teacher
mostly used word in the used of code mixing in teaching. Teacher
used word types when teaching offline class as well as online class.
The researcher found that teacher used 44 words in offline class and 8
words in online class. whereas at the code mixing level, the teacher
also used the word level the most. There were 33 word levels used by
the teacher in offline class and 7 word levels in online class.
B. Suggestion
By considering the conclusion above, the researcher believes that code
mixing used by the teacher in English hybrid mode useful for students in
terms of adding vocabulary and practicing listening skills.
1. Teachers should continue to code mixing so that students' vocabulary
increases and this can be a challenge for students in learning.
2. The teacher should clarify the pronunciation more when doing code
mixing so that students are able to catch what the teacher says. In
addition, students can also practice listening skills with the teacher's
clear pronunciation.
3. Code mixing carried out by teachers should be more varied in terms of
types and levels of code mixings. In addition, it is better if the code
mixing that is done during online learning can be balanced with the
amount of code mixing that is done during offline learning.
4. It is better for students to pay more attention to what the teacher says
and also bring a dictionary in every English lesson so that it is easier
for them to catch and find the meaning of the code mixing done by the
teacher.
