The Effectiveness Of Photograph As A Media In Teaching Writing On Descriptive Text At Eleventh Grade Of SMKN 2 Bone

The main objective of this research was to find out the effectiveness of
photograph as media in teaching writing on descriptive text. This research was
conducted at SMKN 2 Bone in Academic year of 2023. In this research, the
population was the eleventh grade students of SMKN 2 Bone, consisting of 11 classes
with a total 240 students. The sample was 32 students that was taken by using random
sampling technique. The research method used was pre-experimental design in the
form of one group pretest and posttest. The research data were obtained from the
results of the pretest and posttest where the test was carried out on the form of a
descriptive text writing test. The results of this study indicate showed that t-value
12.945 > t-table 1.695 with a degree of significance = 0.05. Consequently, t-value
higher than t-table means that the null hypothesis (H 0 ) is rejected and the alternative
hypothesis (H 1 ) is accepted. As the result, photograph is effective as media in
teaching writing on descriptive text at eleventh grade of SMKN 2 Bone.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher
concluded that photograph effective as media in teaching writing on descriptive text
at eleventh grade of SMKN 2 Bone. This can be seen by the average score of students
before being given treatment using photograph, was 58.98 and after giving treatment
using photograph average score was 84.15, means that the posttest’s score was higher
than pretest’s score. This is evidenced by the application photograph in learning
activities contributes to students and it was more effective in descriptive text.
Then, in order to answer to the hypothesis, the researcher use t-test paired
sample to analysis the score pretest and posttest. The value analysis of learning result
using tests showed t-value 12.945 > t-table 1.695 with a degree of significance =
0.05. Consequently, t-value higher than t-table means that the null hypothesis (H 0 ) is
rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H 1 ) is accepted. This research can answer the
research question that photograph is effective as media in teaching writing on
descriptive text at eleventh grade of SMKN 2 Bone.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher will provide some suggestions
as follow:
1. For educational institutions in general, and SMKN 2 Bone in particular, it’s
expected to able to participate actively and work together in improving
student writing in languages, especially English.
2. For teacher, it is hoped that English teachers will be able to fully contribute as
optimally as possible in paying attention to the students writing system in
English
3. For students, it is hoped that they will be able to learn languages and have a
high interest so that they can support achievement, which is of course for the
future.
