Aommunicative Language Teaching (CLT) Aproach To Develop Students Engkish Learning Motivation At MTs Cina

This study purposes to know the use of communicative language teaching
(CLT) approach in developing students’ English learning motivation at MTs Cina.
Based on the purpose, the research intended to answer these research questions:
“How can Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach develop English
learning motivation? and What are the students’ perceptions concerned
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in developing English learning
motivation?”. The researcher chose MTs Cina as the place of doing research where
the reason why the research took out at the school is because the location is too
strategic to be reached. The participants of the research have been taken from the
eighth grade of that school. In doing this study, the researcher also used descriptive
study in form of qualitative. The first research step done of the researcher is
observation, by doing an observation. On the observation section, the researcher
observed the students motivation in learning English. Besides that, the researcher also
used interview as the additional data and also to answer the second research question
that was about students perception concerned Communicative Language Teaching
(CLT)
approach in developing English learning motivation.
The researcher
interviewed an English teacher and also 5 students in the eighth. The researcher gave
three questions for the teacher and five questions for the teacher, as what the
researcher put in the appendices. After doing observation and also interview, it found
that that the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach can develop
students’ motivation. While about the second problem statement, about the students’
perceptions, the researcher found that there are some statements of students who
mention that they get more confident to speak or doing interaction with another friend
and they also be more active joining the English class. It meant that students have a
good perceptions about the approach applied.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion above, the researcher came to
conclusions where it would be focus on with the answer of problem statements on the
previous chapter it were about “how can communicative language teaching (CLT)
approach develop English learning motivation?” and also “what are the students’
perceptions concerned Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in
developing English learning motivation?”.
Related to the first problem statement where the researcher got closer to the
fact that the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach could develop
students’ motivation. It was got from the applying of some instruments had been
applied including observation and interview. According to the result of observation
and also interview which was done twice which had been included the English
teacher and also the students, the researcher concluded that there was a development
about students’ motivation by made sure about the observation and interview results
where there were positive effect found like they more active in the class, more
confident and also had a good interaction one another.
While about the second problem statement, about the students’ perceptions,
the researcher found that students stated that the approach worked effectively where
they could get the benefit of that approach. There were some statement of students
who mentioned that they got more confident to speak or doing interaction with
another friend and they also could more active joining the English class. It meant that
students had a good perceptions about the approach applied.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher put some suggestion as
follows:
1. For Teacher
It is best for teachers to pay more attention to students in interacting with
their friends, lest they find it difficult to interact, so it is best for such students
to get guidance first.
2. For Students
The students are supposed to maximize the technology to make all
simpler. They have the Hand Phone, so they can use it to serve the material
such as other strategy, method and also technique as the reference in
developing their motivation in studying English
3. For Researcher
Hopefully it can be reference to doing other researcher related to the
recent research or trying to explore other ways to develop students’
motivation.
