The Use Of Role-Play Technique In Teaching Speaking

This research examiner about the use of role-play technique in teaching
speaking. The purpose of this research was to determine the use of role-play
technique in teaching speaking skills at SMP Negeri 1 Mare. This research used a
qualitative method. Sampling in this research used a purposive sampling technique,
where the sampling technique was to take ten students in class VIII C. The
instruments of this research were observation, interviews, and documentation. After
that, the researcher made a transcription that collected, analyzed, and presented the
data on the findings of this study. The results showed that role-playing can attract
students' interest in speaking skills because all students are actively involved. This is
proven based on the results of interviews conducted with students. Students feel
happy learning to use role-play technique because the lessons become easier to
understand, role-playing will also direct students to use English directly so that it can
direct students to be creative.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher
can conclude the use of role play technique in teaching speaking skills in class VIII C
SMP Negeri 1 Mare.
Based on the observations and interviews that have been conducted, many
students gave positive perceptions about the use of role-playing techniques. Role-
playing can attract students' interest in speaking skills because all students are
actively involved. This is proven based on the results of interviews. Students feel
happy learning to use role-playing techniques because lessons become easier to
understand, role-playing will also direct students to use English directly so that they
can direct students to be creative.
B. Suggestion
After covering the conclusions and the implementation of the research, the
researcher has some suggestions for the English teacher, students, and the next
researcher.
1. For the teacher
Suggestions for teachers, hopefully, the research conducted can
provide more motivation so that students are more active in learning to
develop English language skills.
2. For the students
The researcher hopes that this research can be a reference for students
to increase their knowledge about role play techniques then students can
interact more with teachers so that they do not experience difficulties in
teaching and learning activities.
3. For the other researchers
Suggestions for further researchers, hopefully, this research can be
useful for anyone who wants to take references in increasing the
knowledge of researchers about the use of role-play technique in teaching
speaking skills to students.
