The Efficacy Of Using Vocaroo Website Voice Recorder On Students' Speaking Ability At The Tenth Grade Of Senior High School

This research aims at finding out whether or not using Vocaroo website voice
recorder is effective toward students' speaking ability at the tenth grade of MAN 01
Bone. This research was conducted into two classes, which were Experiment group and
control group. Each group consisted 25 students where the students were chosen by
cluster sampling, so the total sample was 50 students. The method in this research was a
quantitative method with a quasy-experimental research as research design. In
collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre test and post test, while in analysing
the data, the researcher used independent sample t-test. The result of the data analysis
showed that the final mean score of the post test of control group was 74.00, while the
mean score of the post test of experiment group was 78.24. It indicated that the mean
score of the experiment group was higher than control group. The t-test showed that the
sig. 2 tailed (p) was 0.030, while the alpha was 0.050. It could be concluded that the H1
(alternative hypothesis) was accepted and H0 was rejected. It can be stated that using
Vocaroo website voice recorder is effective to improve students' speaking ability at the
tenth grade of MAN 01 Bone.
A. Conclusion
The conclusion is based on the result on the previous chapter, it is obvious
that using Vocaroo website voice recorder shows the higher improvement towards
students' speaking ability at the tenth grade of MAN 01 Bone. The students' score
are as the evidence that from the pre test to the post test there is a significant using
this method. The mean score in pre test is 72.00 and the mean score in post test is
78.24, even though the mean score of the pre test and the post test in control class
also shows the improvement from 71.00 to 74.00 but there are some students get the
decline score, while in the experiment class, all the students' score improve. The
independent sample T-test also shows that the alternative hypothesis is accepted
from the sig table that reaches 0.030, it is lower than 0.05.
B. Suggestion
In view of fact, the use of Vocaroo website voice recorder in teaching
speaking as one of techniques in learning process has been proved that this website
is effective in increasing students' speaking ability. The researcher purposes
suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher has to make the interesting situation in using this website
because students to easy to get bored. The teacher needs to make the class
enjoyable to stimulate students' to speak and ask them to do not afraid to
make a mistake. The teacher also has to be creative in managing the material
for the classroom.
2. It is recommended to other researchers that want to take the same field
using this website to develop this research in order to find that this
technique is effective in teaching speaking.
Finally, the researcher realizes that there are still many shortcomings in
this thesis, so the researcher hopes the criticism and suggestion for the
improvement of this thesis. The researcher hopes this research can be useful for
the teacher, the students, and the next researcher.
