The Effectiveness Of Instagram English Learning Videos On Students’ Speaking Skill At The Eleventh Grade Of Sman 25 Bone

This research aims at finding out whether or not using Instagram English learning
videos is effective on students speaking skills at the eleventh grade of SMAN 25
Bone. The method of this research was quantitative research with a pre-experimental
one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was selected by
using cluster sampling. The instrument of this research was collected by using a
speaking test. The treatment in this research was given four times. In the pre-test,
students were given some topics about daily expressions and then performed a
conversation. In the post-test, students were given the same instructions as in the pre-
test. The result of analyzing data, the mean score in pre-test was 55.60 and the mean
score of post-test was 63.15. The t-test showed that the sig. 2 tailed was .000, while
the alpha was 0.05. It could be concluded that H 1 was accepted and H 0 was rejected.
It can be stated that the use of Instagram English learning videos is effective on
students’ speaking skills.
A. Conclusion
Based on the previous chapter, it can be concluded that the use of
Instagram English learning videos is effective on students speaking skills at the
eleventh grade of SMAN 25 Bone. The research of data analysis showed that there
is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The pre-test’s mean
score is 55.60 and the post-test’s mean score is 63.15 Based on the hypothesis
testing, the null hypothesis (H 0 ) was rejected whereas the alternative hypothesis
(H 1 ) was accepted. It was proven that the sig table is .000 which was lower than
0.05. Thus, it can be said that using Instagram English learning videos helped
students significantly increase their speaking skills. Instagram is particularly
adaptable as a learning tool since it can be accessed from anywhere, at any time.
B. Suggestion
To improve teaching and learning activities, the researcher eventually
wants to offer some suggestions to those involved in English education as follows:
1. For the English teacher, the researcher advises the teacher to create
educational materials that reflect globalization. The researcher advises
teachers to include Instagram in their lessons and learning activities,
particularly those that focus on communicating. Instagram encourages
students to improve their English speaking abilities.
2. For other researchers, this research might be a reference in developing
research on the use of Instagram or Instagram videos as media in the learning
process, especially speaking.
