The Effectiveness Of Using Electronic Dictionary To Teach Vocabulary In Grade 2 MTs Lita

The researcher conducted a study on “the effectivenes of using an electronic
dictionary to learn vocabulary in grade 2 Mts Lita”. The purpose of this study
was to determine whether the use of this learning media developed vocabulary
before treatment and post-test was given atfter treatment to determine the increase
in students vocabulary. The researcher used random sampling, the researcher
chose a sample of 1 class consisting of 15 students. They were 8 th grade student of
MTS Lita. The result of this study showed that there was a significant increase in
students vocabulary, this can also be proven by the value of sig. (2-tailde) is 0.00
< 0.05. This indicates that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It is assumed that
there is a significant difference between the students vocabulary after being giving
treatment. This is evidenced by the high avarge score of the post-test student
compared to the pre-test. Test, which means that it is effective to use an electronic
dictionary in learning vocabulary.
A. Conclusion
The use of electronic dictionaries is effective learning vocabulary .Because
after giving the treatment it can be seen that the post-test 83.4667 score are higher
than pre-test 43.8667 result, and the classification of the t-count value is greater
than t-table 2.160 12.576, meaning that the alternative hypothesis (H 1 ) IS accepted
and the null hypothesis is rejected (H 0 ). In other words, there is a significant
difference between students vocabulary mastery before and after being given
treatment using electronic dictionary. And this media can be used in learning
English.
B. Suggestions
Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher
proposes some suggestion as follow:
1. For English teacher
The English teacher should be apply an appropriate technique in teaching-
learning process that effectively can develop students vocabulary. So, electronic
dictionary (U Dictionary) is highly recommended. The English teacher should be
creative to manage the teaching material and the classroom and do not use
monotonous way in teaching so that the students more interested in learning
vocabulary.
2. For the student
The students are expected to increase their interest and ability in learning
reading. They can use electronic dictionary to facilitate them in learning
vocabulary because this technique gives many benefits as explained.
