Indonesian Vocational High School Students’ Perception Of Introduction Of A Blended Learning: A Case Study

This study is conducted to determine student perceptions and case studies that
occurred after the introduction of blended learning as a learning method in Indonesian
vocational high school. The researcher uses qualitative research approach. This study
is a case study and used one class as a participant with twelve meetings. Data
collection methods are observations and interviews. Then, data analysis uses thematic
analysis to solve research questions.
Based on qualitative data, students' actions in the learning process have
increased. The results show that there is a positive effect on students' English skills by
applying blended learning as a learning method. At first, the students have difficulty
following online learning because it is boring. However, after the teacher gives games
in learning, students are interested in learning and increase their learning motivation.
Then students enjoy learning online and offline. Based on the results of observations
and interviews, it shows that the introduction of blended learning as a learning
method has many positive impacts on students, such as: students are more useful in
learning, increase student motivation, increase student insight, the students practice
speaking, there are games that make them easier to understand the material. They also
learn enthusiastically in teaching and learning activities. There are also some
disadvantages, blended learning is not very good such as the students get bad network
when online learning, the students have limited quota and others. But, blended
learning can be used to improve students' English skills. It can be noted that further
researcher applies and research blended learning intensively for English language
skills.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the analysis and discussion in the previous chapter,
finally the researcher can conclude about blended English learning introductory of
Indonesian vocational high school. Conclusion
of this study the following
description:
1. The students perception about introduction of blended learning are seen
more positively than negative comments such as students are interested in
learning process because there are learning games. Blended learning also has
several demerits, some students sometimes will feel bored when speaking
practice.
2. Blended English learning will be a good learning method when the teacher
has the strategy to support the improvement of students’ skill. The students
can develop their skill such as speaking, grammar, and more confident.
B. Suggestion
In basic knowledge of English, students need a lot of practice and use several
media that can help students learn English. Students need media that is attractive and
easy to apply and of course loaded on smart phones such as learning through blended
offline and online so that students can easily learn anywhere and anytime. However,
the researcher recommends another method for learning English because sometimes
students have difficulty with quotas and networks in blended learning, so that it slows
down learning a little.
