Students’ Perceptions On The Use Of Role Playing Methods In Developing English Speaking Ability At Ninth Grade Of SMPN 2 Tellu Siattinge

The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions of the use of the
role playing method in developing students' English speaking ability. This
research uses qualitative research. The participants in this study were ninth grade
students at SMPN 2 Tellu Siattinge. This study uses 4 instruments in data
collection, namely: observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation. The
findings of this study prove that the role playing method is very suitable to be
used in teaching speaking for ninth graders because this method is very effective
and can make students think more broadly. They consider this method very
effective, interesting, can make them think more broadly and of course increase
students' vocabulary. For students who are less interested in learning to speak,
teachers can provide a good solution by offering something more unique,
motivating, providing games and offering more interesting learning methods.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the previous analysis and discussion chapter, the
researcher concluded that the role playing method had a positive influence on 9A
and 9C grade students in speaking learning. Role playing methods are very
suitable for used in teaching speaking for grade ninth students because this
method is very effective and could make students think more broadly. They
consider this method to be very effective, interesting, could make them think more
broadly and of course add student vocabulary. For students who are less interested
in learning to speak, the teacher could provide a good solution by offering
something more unique, motivating, gave the game and offer more interesting
methods in learning.
B. Suggestion
Researchers hope that the results of this study could help teachers to
develop student speaking ability by using role play because according to the
results of most students were interested in speaking learning using the Role Play
method. This research is also still a lot of short comings, hopefully the teacher
could find a unique method in teaching talking so students were more interested in
learning. Researchers also hope that further research from students' perspectives
could conduct investigations in other aspects of English such as reading, writing,
pronunciation and listening.
