This study aims to find out the students‟ perceptions towards the use of
English video in speaking skill. The study was descriptive qualitative case study
design. The participants were 28 students at the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 16
Bone. The result of data analysis shows that students were enthusiastic, active, and
have high motivation in learning speaking used English video. The researcher also
found that students had positive perception on the use of English video in speaking
skill both in the terms of vocabulary and pronunciation because the students can get
new vocabulary from the video and it can train them to pronounce the English words
properly and correctly.
A. Conclusion
This research is aimed to know the students‟ perception toward the use of
English video in speaking skill at the eleventh grade students of SMA 16 Bone
majoring in science 1. Based on the findings of the research, the researcher
concludes that most of the students have positive perception on the use of English
video in learning speaking both in the terms of vocabulary and pronunciation.
Because they can get new vocabulary from English video and it can train them to
pronounce English words properly and correctly.
B. Suggestions
Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher
proposes some suggestion as follow:
1. For English teachers
Considering the positive perception from the students, the use of
English video in speaking skill is recommended to be used in teaching
speaking in the future. So the teachers are expected to use English video in
teaching speaking because English video contains many vocabularies and can
show the right pronunciations of the words. But the video should be
interesting.
2. For students
The students are suggested to be more aware that learning English is
important particularly speaking. Because, speaking English is very useful in
this globalization era. They can learn speaking from many media such as
video. The video can be found easily in many sites on internet or they can use
others media to learn.
