The Application Of Blended Learning Model In Developing Students’ Speaking Ability At The Eighth Grade Of Smpn 3 Ajangale

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the application of
blended learning model in developing students‟ speaking ability at the eighth grade of
SMPN 3 Ajangale. This research used quantitative because the research data in the
form of numbers and analysis using statistics. This analysis was used to determine
wheter there was an influence between the independent variable on the dependent
variable. The population in this research were all the students of class VIII SMPN 3
Ajangale. Where there was 1 class as the experimental group, then the sample used
was class VIII which amounted to 19 students. This research was carried out in the
even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The application of blended learning
has been proven to develop the speaking abilities of students in participating in
English learning. This matter seen from the emergence of students‟ speaking abilities
in the classroom after blended learning was done. Students look enthusiastic,
attentive, serious learn, actively discuss in the class, and on whatsapp application.
Statistically, this research was proven to develop the speaking of students who
assessed from the mean value in the experimental group in the pre-test 52,42 and
post-test 68,84. From these results, this research concluded that the use of blended
learning by using whatsapp application was able to develop students‟ speaking
abilities
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of research on the application of blended learning in
developing speaking ability and various descriptions that have been explained in
previous chapter, it can be concluded that :
There is a sizeable difference between the pre-test and post-test, according to
data analysis research. The average pre-test score on the standard deviation was 7.58,
while the post-test score 8.80.
The significance of the 0,05 degrees of freedom is 1.734. As for the results of
the difference in the significance of the post-test, namely 8.642>1.734. This means
that the research hypothesis is accepted or H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So that
developing students’ speaking abilities by applying blended learning in learning
English to students is clearly effective.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion of the research, the researcher suggest for the
following parties:
1. Blended learning method is used as an alternative for teachers in
communicating and delivering material to students.
2. So that it is expected to be able to help or facilitate students in preparing
speaking assignments. Besides that, students will not get bored easily
because they can ask questions at any time using WhatsApp media and do
not tend to only interact in class. Thus, it is hoped that blended learning
can help to develop students’ speaking abilities.
