Increasing Students’ Reading Comprehension by Using Collaborative Strategy Reading (Csr) of the Ninth Grade at SMP Negeri 1 Palakka

This thesis presents the research about the Increasing Students’ Reading Comprehension by Using Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR) of the Ninth Grade at SMP Negeri 1 Palakka. This research employed quantitative method because the writer conducted the data in form of numbers. The way to collected data by used pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test. The tests, pre-test and post-test were given to measure the students’ reading comprehension before and after treatment. rnBased on the findings and the data analyzing in the preceding chapter, the researcher draws conclusion that after using Collaborative Strategy Reading at SMP Negeri 1 Palakka is effective to increase the students’ reading comprehension. It can be proved by the mean score of post-test was higher than the mean score in pre-test (79,77 > 59.77). It also can be proved by the sig.(2-tailed) of paired sample t-test is 0,000< 0,05. So, it said that there is incresing in students’ reading comprehension achievement after applying Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR). rnA. ConclusionrnBased on the findings and the data analyzing in the preceding chapter, the researcher draws conclusion that after using Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR) of the ninth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Palakka is effective to develop the students’ reading comprehension. It can be seen that the students’ prior knowledge of reading before applying collaborative strategy reading (CSR) is still minimal, it is proved the data that the most of students get fair and fairly poor score classification with mean score of students’ pre-test is 59,77 but after the researcher applied Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR) in the classroom, the mean score of students’ post-test have ascending, it is 79,77. rnB.Implication rnIn view of fact that the application collaborative strategy reading, has been proved in building up the students’ reading comprehension, the researcher would like to give implication as follows: rn1.For the teacher : rna.The teacher is expected to know that Collaborative Strategy Reading can be reference in teaching Reading as one alternative teaching technique and it is not only in teaching Reading but also for the others skill.rnb.It is recommended for English teachers to apply Collaborative Strategy Reading as a way to increase the students’ reading comprehension. rn2.For the students: rnThe students of the nineth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Palakka have to enhance their ability and should be more active in read reading text in order to have more knowledge.rnrn
