This research is aimed at analyzing students’ errors that made by the eleventh
grade students of MAN 1 Bone in using Passive Voice. Specifically, it is aimed at
obtaining and identifying the common error in using passive voice in simple
presentand simple past tense. This research is field research. The problem of this research is what kinds of errors are made by the students in changing active to passive voice. The objective of this research is to know what kinds of errors are made by the students in changing
active to passive voice. The data sources of this research were 15 students of eleventh
grade of MAN 1 Bone. The researcher used the descriptive analysis method in this
research to describe students’ errors and analyzed the data by using formula: P=
.P= percentage, F= frequency of false answer and N= number of sample. This research
used descriptive approach. This approach relies on observation as a means of
collecting data. The result of the error analysis process shows that students commit error into
four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. From the frequency of
each errror types, misformation is the error which most frequently produced by the
student. It takes 55,6% of the total errors. Moreover, 23,9% errors fell into omission,
14,9%for ordering and 5,4% for addition. It can be concluded that the most students
at the eleventh grade of MAN 1 Bone have not mastered yet in transforming active
voice to passive.
A.Conclusion
Based on the title of this research “An Analysis of Students’ Error in
Changing Active to Passive Voice at Eleventh Grade Students of MAN 1 Bone”, the
writer concludes that the highest percentage to the lowest are error of misformation
(55,6%), error of omission (23,9%), error of misordering (14,9%) and error of
addition (5,4%).The writer believes some errors occurred because the students’ of MAN 1
Bone are still confused in transforming passive voice. They don’t know how to
change bare infinitive verb or past verb into verb three or past participle. Also, they
can simply add at being in the middle of sentence as discussed in previous chapter.
B.Suggestion
Considering the conclusion above some suggestions are presented in this part.
This research will hopefully contribute both practical and theoretical values.
Realizing that the students are still has some problems in changing active to passive
voice. In this research, the researcher would like to give some suggestions to both the
teacher and the students.
1. For the English teacher
Because the students still have problems in changing active to passive voice,
the teacher should give more attention to them. The teacher should give exercises
continuously to their students. The teacher can also try to motivate the students to
learn English, especially about passive voice.
2. For the Students
The students should learn English harder. Especially learn about passive
voice. So, the students’ comprehension is increased. It is also important for the
students to know their ability, by which feedback will be obtained and it is hoped that
they will increase their comprehension in passive voice.
3. For the other researcher
It is suggested that other researcher may use the research results as
information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in the same
design about the error analyze of passive voice.
