Analysis the Students’ Abilities And Difficulties in Writing Recount Text at the Eight Grade of SMPN 3 Awangpone

Researcher conducted research at SMPN 3 Awangpone. This research
focused on students' abilities and difficulties in writing recount texts. Although
recount text is familiar, but many students still find it difficult. The purpose of this
research to determine the students’ ability in writing recount texts, and know
students' difficulties in writing recount texts. This is qualitative research. In
collecting data, researcher used observation and interview. Observed writing
components develop ideas, organize ideas, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation.
This research shows that most student at SMPN 3 Awangpone have low skill in
writing recount text. Students’ abilities are still very low and they are not
proficient in writing recount text because they are lacking in developing idea, lack
of mastery of vocabulary, grammar, correct placement of punctuation marks and
use of capital letters, even most students’ are still confused in finding ideas or
themes which they have to describe, and the result of the interviews,
questionnaires, and the result of students text indicated that they experience some
difficulties write recount text. Student difficultie’s is a general structure in writing
recount text consist of the describing objects in detail, grammar and applying
generic structure in writing recount text. Besides, the majority students have
difficulty making sentences and writing correct spelling words. Moreover, the
lack vocabulary makes them write a lot repetition of word in their writing.
A. Conclusion
As mentioned in the first chapter, the aim of this study is to analysis students
ability and difficulties in writing recount text at SMPN 3 Awangpone. Researcher
want to do in conclude the data obtained in this chapter;
1. This research shows that 2 students can developing their idea, using good
vocabulary and correct placement so 2 students has middle level in
writing recount text they just lack of using grammar and lack of
punctuation marks but another students at SMPN 3 Awangpone have low
skill in writing recount text. 14 students of class 8B have ability are still
very low and they are not proficient in writing recount text because they
are lacking in developing idea, lack of mastery of vocabulary, grammar,
correct placement of punctuation marks and use of capital letters, even
most students’ are still confused in finding ideas or themes which they
have to describe.
2. The result of the interviews and the result of students’ text indicated that
they experience some difficulties write recount text. 2 Students
difficulties is a using good grammar and punctuation mark and other
students is a difficulties general structure in writing recount text consist of
the describing objects in detail, grammar and applying generic structure
in writing recount text. Besides, the majority students have difficulty

B. Suggestions
According the result of the study, the researcher recommends some
suggestions for improving students ability and deducting students difficulties in
writing recount text.
1. The researcher suggests that the students write a sentences, paragraph or
text as often as possible to improve their writing. In addition, memorizing
a lot of vocabulary and reading grammar book for deducting difficulties
in writing recount text.
2. Based on the findings and conclusion of the study, the researcher
suggests that the good thing is that teacher must help students make good
texts by providing variety how to develop ideas and organize idea, the
teacher gives time to students to practice their writing skills, give
assignments for students to memorize some vocabulary so that are rich in
vocabulary and can apply it when they write
