Muh. Faisal/02.17.4056 - Personal Name
This study was conducted to determine students' perceptions of the use of
problem-based learning in activating students' speaking ability. The research
approach uses qualitative research and the research design is descriptive qualitative.
This study only used one basic class as a participant with five meetings. The data
collection method is an interview using two sessions. Then the data analysis used
content analysis to solve the research questions. Based on the interviews, it was
found that students' perceptions of the use of problem based learning in activating
students' speaking ability were good or positive, because students learn to think
critically how to solve problems and students also develop their knowledge, and can
make it easier for students to understand the material.
Problem-based learning has weaknesses, one of which is if students do not have
confidence that the problem being studied is difficult to solve, then students will feel
reluctant to try.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the analysis and discussion in the previous
chapter, the researcher concludes the following description:
Students' perceptions of the use of problem based learning in activating
students' speaking ability are good or positive, this can be seen from the
results of the second interview session, that the results showed that student
perceptions were more positive than negative student perceptions, such as:
students learn to think critically, how to solve problems and students also
develop their knowledge because by using problem-based learning in
learning students more easily understand the material provided.
B. Suggestion
In basic knowledge of English, students need a lot of practice and use
several approach methods that can help students learn English. Students need
an interesting and easy-to-apply approach and of course in helping students'
learning processes such as problem-based learning methods that help students
to think critically and solve problems, but researchers recommend other
methods to learn to speak because problem-based learning. has weaknesses,
one of which is that if students do not have confidence that the problem being
