The Use of Suggestive Imagination to Improve Students’ Writing Skill in Descriptive Text at the Second Grade of SMAN 3 Bone.

This research aims to find out “The use of Suggestive Imagination to
improve students’ writing skill in descriptive text”. It was a quantitative study.
The researcher applied a pre-experimental research with pre test and post test
group design. There were two variables, namely the dependent variable (writing
skill descriptive text) and the independent variable (suggestive imagination). The
reseacher used cluster sampling to take the sample. The sample of the research
was consisted of 36 students from the XI MIPA 6 of SMAN 3 Bone. The
researcher gave pre test, treatments, and post test. The data on the students’
writing skill in descriptive text were analyzed by using SPSS 21. The result of
the mean score of post test was 81,94 significantly higher than the mean score of
pre test was 65,53. This indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H 1 ) was
accepted and (H 0) ) was rejected. It was concluded that using suggestive
imagination improved students’ writing skill in descriptive text at the second
grade of SMAN 3 Bone.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of data analysis and discussion in the previous
chapter, the researcher puts the conclusion that:
Suggestive imagination gave the effect on students’ skill to generate ideas
in writing text especially in descriptive text. It could be seen that the students
were getting easy to understand the material because of applying suggestive
imagination gave them feeling enjoy to writing descriptive text. That was proven
by the increasing mean score from pre test was 65,53 to post test was 81,94 after
applying suggestive imagination. It was concluded that the suggestive
imagination gave a significant effect to improve students’ writing skill in
descriptive text at SMAN 3 Bone, rather than without using any method at all.
B. Suggestion
In relation to the conclusion above, the following suggestions are
forward:
1. The teacher should apply suggestive imagination as one of the alternative
method in learning writing skill because the students become creative in
generating ideas in writing skill especially in descriptive text.
2. The students are getting easy in writing skill by generating and organizing
the descriptive text because they acquired and helped by applying suggestive
imagination. The result they do not only the generic structure but also how to
find the ideas, word use, and arrange of paragraph descriptive text.
3. For the improvement of teaching English, the researcher suggests to the
English teacher especially writing skill, the teacher must give a good method
in teaching English based on the students’ motivation and the teacher must
be creative in creating the teaching learning activities, the teacher must focus
on teaching learning strategic, no only focus on transfering information.
Using suggestive imagination as a technique or method can improve
students’ writing skill in descriptive text.
There are many techniques or methods which can be used to improve
students writing skill and make the teaching learning process be more fun.
Suggestive imagination is one of techniques or methods which can be used or
tecahers can use another techniques or method which is appropriate with the
subject which will be learned.
