This thesis discusses the Analysis of the Factors Causing Students’
Anxiety in Speaking (A Study at the Eleventh Grade of MA Yapit Taretta).
Specially, it sought to analyze the factors causing students’ anxiety in speaking.
This research used a qualitative method. The sample consisted of 7
students from MA Yapit Taretta. This research aims to know the factors causing
students’ anxiety in speaking English.
The problem of this research is to analyze the factors that influence
students'' anxiety when speaking this research used a qualitative method. The
sample consisted of 7 students from MA Yapit Taretta. This research aims to
know the factors causing students’ anxiety in speaking English.This thesis is
intended to find out some problems causing students’ anxiety in speaking.
Therefore, the researcher used 2 instruments, namely observation, and interview:
while the results of the observations were such as sweating, shaking, stammered,
and concentrating difficulty. while the results of the interview there are lack of
confidence, lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, poor pronunciation, and fear of
being laughed at. This thesis also discusses students'' feelings when learning
English, Students'' ways to deal with their anxiety, and students'' perceptions about
English.the researchers found the factors that cause anxiety in students in speaking
caused by several factors. That is a lack of confidence, lack of vocabulary, lack of
grammar, not good pronunciation, and fear of being laughed at.
A. Conclusions
Based on research data collected through observations and
interviews at MA Yapit teretta class XI MIPA, the researchers concluded as
follows: followed:
First, the researchers found the factors that cause anxiety in students in
speaking caused by several factors. That is lack of confidence, lack of
vocabulary, lack of grammar, not good pronunciation, and fear of being
laughed at.
Second, from the results of interviews, researchers found several ways,
namely: What students do to overcome their anxiety is as follows: the way
students do it most often overcoming their anxiety in speaking in class is
relaxation. Followed by preparation before speaking, some students who have
been interviewed choose preparation as a way to deal with anxiety. Then
some students try positive thinking to overcome anxiety while speaking.
Looking for partners and focus is also used by some students to reduce
anxiety in speaking.

students’ feelings when learning English and students’ perceptions about
English. Students’ feelings when learning English are confused, do not like to
study English, and indifferent. And then students’ perceptions about English
are based on the material and difficulty.
B. Suggestions
From the findings presented in chapter three, here are some: the
suggestion that can be taken into consideration:
1. For the lecturers
Researchers hope that lecturers can help students deal with their
worries. For example, lecturers can motivate students if they see nervous.
Because the motivation of the lecturers can increase their self-confidence to
speak in front of the class. With good motivation, it will certainly make
students comfortable when learning a foreign language. The motivation here
can be in the form of praise or added value to improve students' abilities,
especially in learning foreign language learning.
2. For the next researcher
By knowing the factors that cause students’ anxiety and how students
to reduce it. The author hopes that future researchers can find other factors
that cause student anxiety and other strategies that students can use to deal
with anxiety. The author also recommends furthering researchers to do
interviews with lecturers, to add data from the lecturer's point of view about
factors that cause anxiety in students and the way students deal with worry
