This thesis discusses "The Role of English Teachers in Improving Students'
Vocabulary Comprehension At The eighth year students Of SMPN 3
Awangpone ". This study aims to determine how the role of the English teacher in
improving vocabulary understanding in class VIII students at SMPN 3 Awangpone.
The method used in this study is a qualitative design with instruments of observation,
interviews and documentation. The research sample was taken using purposive
sampling technique, the researcher took 20 samples. The sample is based on the
selection of student activities in participating in learning, in order to provide accurate
information about this research. The data analysis technique used is data reduction,
data display and conclusion. The results showed that the role of the English teacher
was very important. By using the memory method for each meeting, it is quite
helpful for students to improve their English vocabulary
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded as follows:
The role of the English teacher in improving especially students in the eighth
year students at SMPN 3 Awangpone can be said to be very important in
improving word understanding, especially in increasing students' learning
motivation and having good creativity for students in increasing vocabulary
every time they learn English.
B. Suggestion
After conducting research on the role of English teachers in improving
understanding of vocabulary, the suggestions that the researcher conveyed are
as follows:
1. Students should increase their enthusiasm and discipline in ongoing
English learning, such as memorizing vocabulary that has been given by
the teacher and bringing a complete dictionary so that they can add
insight into English vocabulary.
2. Teachers Increase creativity in learning English, especially to improve
English vocabulary. For example, for each student, students deposit
vocabulary and start over words that have been memorized so that they
are not easily forgotten by these students
