An Analysis Of Classroom Interaction In English Teaching And Learning Process At The Eighth Grade Of MTs Miftahul Khaer Mare

This research was aimed at finding and describing the classroom
interaction between teacher to students and students to teacher in the English
teaching and learning process at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Khaer Mare.
This research used the descriptive qualitative research method. This research was
conducted at MTs Miftahul Khae Mare. The population in this study was eighth
grade students of MTs Miftahul Khaer Mare. The number of participants was 25
students from one class and an English teacher. The instruments used to get the
data in this research were: Observation, Interview and Questionnaire.
The results of classroom interaction between teacher to students showed
that the interactions were generally run well and there were some interactions in
the teaching and learning process; Greeting and praying activities, checking
students’ attendance, telling the material, giving directions, asking questions,
giving jokes, criticizing, giving advice, giving the task for the next meeting. The
next results of classroom interaction between students to teacher that occurs
during the teaching and learning process that occurs have not been maximized.
There are some interactions in the teaching and learning process; Greetings and
praying activities, giving responses to the teacher questions and directions, jokes
with their friends, and being noisy in the classroom.
A. Conclusion
Based on the discussion and the result of “an analysis of classroom
interaction in English teaching and learning process at the eighth grade of MTs
Mifathul Khaer Mare” can be concluded as follows:
1. Classroom interaction between teacher to students that occurs during
the teaching learning process is generally run well. There are some
interactions in the teaching and learning process; Greetings and
praying activities, checking students’ attendance, telling the material,
giving directions, asking questions, giving jokes, criticizing, giving
advice, giving the task for the next meeting.
2. Classroom interaction between students to teacher that occurs during
the teaching learning process that occurs has not been maximized.
There are some interactions in teaching and learning process;
Greetings and praying activities, giving responses to the teacher
questions and directions, jokes with their friends, and being noisy in
the classroom.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher would like to give some
suggestions:
1. The other researcher
a. To find the new methods for accommodating in interaction analysis
English teaching and learning.
b. To conduct another research dealing with interaction in teaching
and learning process and to make some efforts to improve the
classroom interaction.
2. To the teacher
a. The teacher should use other techniques in the teaching and
learning process to improve student and student interaction in the
classroom. For example, by using other interactive media to
communicate with the students to be able to evaluate their teaching
and plan what she would do for better the teaching learning process
later.
b. The teacher should give more support and motivation to the
students to use English to interact with other students.
3. To the student
The students should be more active in English when they
interact with their teachers. By maximizing the use of English, the
students will be more familiar with using English. As a result, they
will be motivated to join and involve themselves actively in any
activities in the teaching and learning process.
