The Effectiveness of Cooperative Script Strategy to Improve Speaking Ability Students’ at the Eleventh Grade of MA Yasrib Watansoppeng

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness cooperative
script to improve speaking ability students’. The sample of this research is the
students of eleventh grade in academic year 2019/2020 of MA Yasrib Watansoppeng.
They were selected by cluster sampling that consists of 25 students to study English
by using cooperative script strategy as a treatment. This research is a quantitative
research design, which used experimental study. Most of students could speak
English but they could not speak with good pronunciation. The main problems are
they still forgot some vocabularies and they don’t speak fluently. The result of this
research showed if that there was a significant different in students’ speaking ability.
Regarding the T-test value found in students’ pre test and post test from the T-table
showed that in the first part sample statistic indicate that the students’ achievement
before and after giving the treatment. The mean score of the students’ in pre-test was
73,48 while the mean score of the students’ in post test was 78,76. This indicated the
students’ speaking ability was Increased after learning English by using cooperative
script strategy. It was proved based on the data from the mean scores which show that
pre-test 73,48 and post-test 78,76. In the second part the test result showed that the
correlation between two variables is 620 with sign of 001.
A. Conclusion
The implementation of using cooperative script strategy to improve students’
speaking ability of the eleventh grade of MA Yasrib Watansoppeng was applied
through activities as the following: Firstly, The researcher give the material then
divides the students’ work in pair. Secondly, the researcher asks the students’ to make
a notes about the material has given. Thirdly, the researcher choose a students’ who is
to be first speaker and listener, after they turn position the last one, the researcher
give conclusion. It can be seen in pre-test and post-test. The result show that the mean
of pre-test was 73,48 post-test was 78,76. It showed that the mean score students’ of
pre-test was higher that the mean score students’ of post-test.
