This script presents research about The Use Of Folklore Videos To increase
The Students Speaking Proficiency At The Tenth Grade Students Of Sma 18 Bone.
This research used quantitative method which used pre-experimental research with
one group pre-test and post-test. The researcher used cluster sampling. The sample
consisted of 33 students from the Class MIA 3. The researcher gave pre-test,
treatments, and post-test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 21. Most of
students‘ could speak English but they could not speak with good. The main
problems are they think speaking is difficult that made them could not speak
naturally. Regarding the data analysis, this research used test and questionnaire as
instrument. Test was used to analyze the effectiveness of using folklore videos to
enhance students‘ speaking proficiency and the questionnaire was used to identify
students‘ motivation in learning English by using folklore videos
This result of this research shows that the students have good ability in
speaking. It can be seen from the comparison data between the mean score of post-
test is significantly higher than pre-test (81,81 > 49,39) and out of the 33 students,
75,76 % chose that this method enlarge the students‘ motivation and interest speaking
in the class. It can be stated that by using folklore videos to increaase students‘
speaking proficiency are known good.
A. Conclusion
At the end of the research, the post-test was given to measure the influence of
using folklore videos to enhance students speaking proficiency. The mean score of
pre-test is 49,39 and the mean score of post-test is 81,81. It showed that the mean
score students‘ of pre-test was higher than the mean score students‘ of post-test.
Based on the result of questionnaire, it conclude that the students‘ motivation
enlarge during using this media. Out of the 33 students, 75,76% chose this media
could enlarge their motivation in learning English by using folklore videos in
teaching english to enhance students‘ speaking proficiency.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that the media of folklore videos has been proved to be
effective in teaching english to enhance the students‘ speaking proficiency, the
researcher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. For the teachers
Considering this media, the researcher suggests the English teacher to
apply this media. This media is one of media that could help in teaching
speaking, vocabulary, and several kinds of text (descriptive text, narrative
text, procedure text, etc.
2. For the students
Considering this media, the researcher suggests the students to learn
English by using this media. so that the students will be more interested
and enjoy to study English.
3. For the other researcher
It is suggested that other researcher may use the research results as
information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in
the same design about the effectiveness of using folklore videos with
different.
