The Use of Word Card for Learning Vocabulary to Students at SMP Negeri 1 Tonra.

This thesis discusses the use of word cards for students in learning
vocabulary in class A, SMP Negeri 1 Tonra for the academic year 2020/2021. This
study aims to determine how word cards affect student achievement and student
interest in vocabulary learning. This research includes qualitative research.
Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique, where the sampling
technique was seventh grade A, which consisted of 20 students. Data was collected
using vocabulary tests, observations, and interviews. This study analyzes the data
using reduction, display, and concluding/verification.
Based on the results of the study that the use of word cards affects student
achievement and interest. From the results of the vocabulary test data obtained that
vocabulary affects student achievement in learning vocabulary. Where students are
active in the learning process and actively provide comments or ideas about the
lessons given so that students' vocabulary tends to be better after studying word
cards. In the process of observation and interviews with 5 students, it was found
that both of them influenced students' interest in studying word cards very well
because they enjoyed and were very enthusiastic and did not experience
difficulties in the process of learning word cards.
A. Conclusion
The use of word cards affects student achievement in learning vocabulary.
The results of the vocabulary test data obtained affect student achievement.
Where students are active in the learning process and actively provide
comments or ideas about the lessons given so that students' vocabulary tends
to be better after studying word cards and being given a vocabulary test.
Students' interest in learning vocabulary by using word cards. Based on the
process of observation and interviews with 5 students, it is known that both of
them affect students' interest in studying word cards very well because they
enjoy and are very enthusiastic and do not experience difficulties in the
process of learning word cards.
B. Suggestion
Based on the results and conclusions of the study, the researcher suggests
that as an English teacher, it is better to use the word card teaching strategy as
an alternative strategy in teaching English, especially vocabulary because it
can help to memorize vocabulary and also be enthusiastic in class. This
strategy can build students' motivation to learn English. For students, the
researcher suggests memorizing vocabulary using a word card teaching
strategy, to make it easier for them to learn English. And also this research is
expected to be used as information for further research in vocabulary mastery.
