This thesis presents research on Teaching Recount Text Writing by Using Photos to
X-grade students of SMAN 13 Bone. This study aims to determine the improvement
of students' writing skills in recount text by using photos. There are two variables in
this study. The independent variable is using photos. The dependent variable is the
students' ability in writing recount text. This study uses quantitative methods that use
pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test. The researcher used
cluster sampling. The sample consistes of 36 students of class X IPS 4 SMAN 13
Bone. This study provides pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Data on students' writing
skills were analyzed using SPSS 23. The results show that students had good writing
skills. This can be seen from the comparison data between the average post-test
scores. significantly higher than the pre-test (74,83 > 48,61). The results of this study
indicate that there is a significant development in the ability of students to write
