An Intensive Reading Activities at Eleventh Grade Students of SMKN 7 Bone: A Learner-Centered Method in EFL Classroom Setting.

This thesis presents research about intensive reading activities at eleventh
grade students of SMKN 7 Bone: A learner-centered method in English as a Foreign
Language classroom setting.This research used a qualitative method. The sample
consisted of 8 students from SMKN 7 Bone.The aims of this research to know the
students learning outcomes and the factors that make students difficulties in reading
biography text through intensive reading.
This thesis is intended to find out two problems of reading. The first problem
is to know the student‘s learning outcomes in reading biography text through
intensive reading. Based on the result of the reading test have found that there are 4
categories; good, fair, poor and very poor.The researcher stated that the students
learning outcomes in reading biography text through intensive reading could be said
well. Because, students of SMKN 7 Bone got some the goals of intensive
reading.The second problem is to know the students difficult in reading biography
text through intensive reading. Based on the result of the interview the researcher
has found that the factors that make students difficult in reading biography text
through intensive reading, namely; bored, less active, the method of teaching and
lack vocabulary
A. Conclusions
Based on the discussion, the researcher draws the conclusion of the
student's learning outcomes in reading biography text through intensive
reading. The researcher concluded that the student‘s learning outcomes in
reading biography text through intensive reading could be said well. Because
students of SMKN 7 Bone get some of the goals of intensive reading.
1. Based on the result of the interview that have been found, the factor
that makes students‘ difficulty in reading biography text through
intensive reading. The first, relates to the feeling when learning
English, especially in reading. The second is related to feel active or
less active in learning reading. The third, related to the method of
teaching. The last, the difficulty in learning reading.
2. Based on students‘ perceptions related to feeling include are happy,
bored, happy but also bored, and nice. Whereas the second question is
based on students‘ perception of feeling active and less active in
learning reading. The third question is based on the students‘
perception of the method of teaching. The method of teaching gives
effect and has no effect on learning reading. The last question is the
difficulty in learning reading. Based on the students‘ experiences it
could be categorized to be two factors. Translating, because still have
a lack vocabulary and pronunciation, because of lack of practice.
B. Suggestions
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher will give suggestions to all
readers and especially for teacher and students:
1. For the teacher
Such us, the English teacher should have a strategy when teaching in
the classroom. So, the students will be more active and do not feel bored
studying the classroom. One of the strategies is to apply a game that relates
to the topic of reading class and then the English teacher should giving
them vocabularies and many practices pronunciation because it has a good
influence to improve their English skills.
2. For the students
The students should learn more about English. The students have to
improve their achievements, students must learn more actively for
enhancing their vocabulary. So, easily students can improve all their skills.
3. For the other researcher
Special for the next researcher should begin from now to study about
research methodology and this research could be a reference to make other
research related to this research.
