Self-Correction: Using Grammarly in Writing Skill at The Eleventh Grade of SMAN 14 Bone

This research presents about the self-correction through using
grammarlyini writing skill at the eleventh grade of SMAN 14 Bone. This research
used qualitative method which used descriptive research. The sample consisted of
15 students from eleventh grade of SMAN 14 Bone. The data on self-correction
using grammarly and students’ perception were analyzed by using observation and
questionnaires. It aims to show the result of self-correction after using grammarly
in writing skill. This result of this research showed that the students could do self-
correction well through grammarly. It can be seen from good based on
observationsand questinnaires that have been obtained by the researcher where the
students were more interested to learn English specially in writing skill. They like
to do self-correction through grammarly. They like how to improve their writing
skill specially in grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation,. They also can
keep practicing writing skill through grammarly enjoyably.
The students consider that there are many advantages of self-correction
through grammarlysuch as it can find out their mistakes and correct it well, it can
be used in laptop and mobile phone, it can encourage their motivation and also
they feel more confident when they learn writing skill. So, it can be concluded that
the use of grammarly in self-correction is very useful in writing skill.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of the data analysis in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes that self-correction through grammarly could be used well in
writing skill. It could help students to correct their mistakes or errors and also
improve their writing skill such as spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and
grammar.
In students perceptions, Grammrly could make student interested to learn
about English specially writing skill. students also could be enthusiastic in
practicing writing. Beside that, students could be more confident and motivated to
learn English writing skill.
B. Suggestion
Based on the calculation above, related to the self-correction through using
grammarly in writing skill, the researcher would like to give some suggestions for
booth English teachers and students as follows ;
1. For the English teachers
English teachers should use grammarly to teach students find their
mistakes and errors in their writing skill. Through correcting by self-
correction, a teacher does not need work hard to make students understand.
More drills and practice should be given to the students in order to minimize
the mistakes and errors.
2. For the English students
The students should practice their writing skill. However, students in
this globalization era could not deny that technology gives many effects.
Thus, students should use is as well as they can. It includes using it for
studying specially to learn writing with grammarly.
3. For the researcher
The researcher realizes that there are still some weaknesses in this
paper so the reader of the students who want to study about the self-correction
through using grammarly in writing skill are suggested to read some
references as the comparison of this because requires a special attention to
improve the understanding about writing skill well.
