Analyzing The Students’ Difficulties In Speaking English At The Eleventh Grade Hospitality Students In Smkn 7 Bone

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam belajar
berbicara bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif,
dimana peneliti ingin menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam belajar berbicara bahasa
Inggris. Lokasi ini berada di SMKN 7 Bone Kecamatan Tanete Riattang
Kabupaten Bone dengan jumlah populasi 26 siswa dan sampel 5 siswa. Untuk
mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan beberapa teknik, yaitu: Observasi, dan
wawancara. Untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan beberapa teknik,
yaitu: pengumpulan data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil
penelitian ini menemukan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam berbicara: 1)
Siswa mengalami keterbatasan kosakata saat berbicara bahasa Inggris, 2) Siswa
takut salah pengucapan karena tidak memahami tata bahasa dengan baik, 3) Siswa
mengalami keterbatasan pengucapan dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, dan 4 )
Siswa seringkali tampak berpikir terlebih dahulu tentang apa yang harus
dikatakan. Kesulitan lainnya adalah: Siswa kurang paham dan tidak terlalu suka
belajar bahasa Inggris, siswa tidak berlatih berbicara ketika di luar atau di kelas
dengan temannya sehingga pada saat berlatih berbicara di depan temannya siswa
gugup dan takut karena siswa tidak mengetahui pengucapan dan perbendaharaan
kata. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang berpengaruh besar terhadap
kesulitan berbicara siswa adalah penggunaan bahasa ibu mereka.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of presenting and discussing the data in the previous
chapter, the researcher concludes. In answering the first researcher previous
question, namely "What are the students' difficulties in speaking English at
eleventh-grade hospitality students at SMKN 7 Bone?" The researcher found the
observation results concluded that students experience limited vocabulary when
speaking English so that it makes students unable to speak, students are afraid of
mispronunciation because they do not understand grammar well, students
experience pronunciation limitations in speaking English so that it is difficult to
speak, and students often seem to think what is being said.
To support the results of the answers to the first research question, the
researcher concluded the results of the interview to answer the second research
question, namely "How does the teaching and learning of the English speaking
process at eleventh-grade hospitality students at SMKN 7 Bone?" The results of
the interview concluded that students do not understand or do not really like
learning English and do not practice speaking when outside or in class with their
friends so that when they practice speaking in front of their friends, these students
feel insecure and afraid because the reason is that students do not know
pronunciation and vocabulary. This shows the factors that have a big influence on
students speaking difficulties is the use of the mother tongue.
B. Suggestion
Based on the result of the study, the researcher gives some suggestion:
1. The English Teachers
Teachers must motivate students, encourage and improve student self-
confidence. To motivate students, teachers must often ask students to
practice speaking when learning in class and outside the classroom, then
teachers must use English more often in class starting from greeting to the
end of learning, and must always ask students to use English even though it
is combined with Indonesian so that students get used to speaking. Also,
teachers must encourage students to be willing to speak English, always be
confident, and don't be afraid to be wrong. And last, for learning media
problems, teachers must always try to provide attractive media for students
to be more interested and excited when learning to speak.
2. The Students
Students of SMKN 7 Bone at eleventh-grade hospitality can increase self-
confidence by practicing more often in class or outside the classroom,
students should take English courses and training, then students must
memorize vocabulary little by little, and learn good pronunciation. Finally,
students must get rid of their fear of speaking English in front of their
friends or front of other people.
3. The other researchers
It is suggested that other researchers can use the research results as
information or a reference for researching with similar topics in the same
design to determine the difficulties of students learning to speak in different
methods or ways.
