Analyzing The Students Problems in Learning Grammar At The Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 18 Bone

The purpose of this study is to determine the problems in learning grammar
in class XI SMAN 18 Bone. The subjects of this study are students of SMAN 18
Bone in the exact program, especially class XI, with the population 32 students, and
sample 10 students. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive
method. After analyzing students' problems in learning grammar, it could be seen
that the results of this study indicates that in learning grammar students face
problems. From all the grammar tests, interviews, and observations given by the
researcher, to analyze the data, researcher used several techniques, namely: data
collection, data display, and conclusions. The results of this study finds that the
problems in learning grammar faced by students, especially the past tense, the use of
verb 1 and verb 2. In addition, students also have problems with the simple past
formula. especially the use of "ed".
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes that the results of this study indicated that in learning
grammar students face problems. From all the grammar test, interview, and
observations given by the researcher, it could be concluded that most of the
students have big problems in learning grammar. This proved that students have
problems with the usage of verb 1 and verb 2. In addition, students also had
problems with the simple past formula, especially the usage of "ed".
B. Suggestion
In view of the fact that in learning grammar the students faced the
problem, the researcher would like to give suggestions as followed:
1. For the English teacher
From the recent findings showed that students still faced problem in
learning grammar especially, in tenses (simple past tense), The using of verb and
the lack of vocabulary about the rule simple past tense was the one of many
problems that causes students became confused in learning grammar process. The
teacher should be able to increase and improve their student’s knowledge and their
knowledge about learning grammar especially in tenses. The teacher also should
always give motivation for the students to practice their ability in various aspects
of English skill.
2. For other researcher
Here, the researcher suggestes to the next researcher could analyzes the
problem in learning grammar in other tenses. Then the different object such as the
problem in the oral production or the problem in the students’ task. The other
researcher can analyze by using the different manner and also the next researchers
are expected to extend this research. So, the reader has better and deeper
understanding related to the study.
