An Error Analysis of Word Order Used in Recount Text Made by the Eight Grade Student of SMPN 4 Ajangal

This study puiposes to know the kinds of errors in using word order in writing
recount text committed by students and the factors of the students making errors of
using word order in writing recount text. The researcher chose SMPN 4 Ajangale as
the place of conducting the research where she takes the eighth grade of SMPN 4
Ajangale students as partisipants included five students. This research was a
qualitative research. There are two instruments used in this research, they were
writing test and interview. Firstly, the student was tested using writing text that had
been given by the researcher. In the next day, the researcher interviewed all of the
participants that had been chosen. The result of writing test are there some kinds of
errors in using word order in writing recount text conclude that there are 5 error
sections found in the results of student writing which includes; the use of to be, the
use of verbs, modal auxiliary that still often forgets to use past forms, there is also the
use of the correct subject that is often confused position, and the last is the noun
phrase. While the result of interview showes that there are several causes that
students make errors, namely; error made by background and native language where
the cases consists of: hesitate in arranging sentences so that it causes wrong patterns,
have difficulty understanding the rules of writing, and there are also some students
who cannot understand and memorize good and correct usage patterns. While errors
caused by intralingual causes consist of: some students who still do not understand
well the existing sentence structures, have not been careful in writing sentence
structure, and have difficulty understanding the rules of writing.
A. Conclusion
Based on the first research question, from the result in the previous finding of
writing test related to the the kinds of errors in using word order in writing Recount
text conclude that there are there are 5 error sections found in the results of student
writing which include; the use of to be, the use of verbs, modal auxiliary that still
often forgets to use past forms, there is also the use of the correct subject that is often
confused position, and the last is the noun phrase caused by several factors such as
wrong placement of head and modifier and also plural noun.
While based on the second research question related to the the error factors of
using word order in writing recount text iclude that there are some students who still
do not understand well the existing sentence structures, hesitate in arranging
sentences so that it causes wrong patterns, have not been careful in writing sentence
structure, have difficulty understanding the rules of writing, and there are also some
students who cannot understand and memorize good and correct usage patterns.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher put some suggestion as follows:
1. For Teacher
The teacher conveyed by researcher is at least to do the process of grammar
learning. Hopefully the teachers can provide more intense grammar learning so
that they can understand their function in a sentences and also reducing word
order errors .
2. For Students
For students, they are expected to follow the english learning procedures
delivered by the teacher well so as to maximize the learning process of Grammar.
3. For Researcher
For the future to prospective researchers who want to do research on effective
learning methods to improve students‟ grammar implementation, it can make this
research as a reference. In addition, the researcher also hope that prospective
researchers can produce the better research in the future.
