The title of this research is The Implementation of GIST (Generating
Interaction Schemata and Text) Strategy in Reading Recount Text (A Study at the
Eighth Grade SMPN 1 Palakka). This study aimed to The Implementation of GIST
(Generating Interaction Schemata and Text) Strategy in Reading Recount Text.
This research used a quantitative text pre test and post test design. The
participant of this research was 15 students of VIII B. The technique which was used
in collecting data was test. It consisted of 40 items of multiple choices reading
recount text. To analyzed data, the research used the SPSS application. After giving
the treatment at the experimental of post test, the result showed that there was two
students got very good classification (6,9%), nine students got good classification
(31,1%), eleventh students got fairly good classification (37,9%), five students got
fair classification (17,2%),and two students got poor classification (6,9%).
At last, the null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was
accepted, because the criteria H1 was accepted if the sig. (2-tailed) is 000
