Analyzing the Students Pronunciation in Reading Text from the Rural and Urban Areas at SMKN 5 Bone and SMKN 7 Bone.

This research aims to know the students pronunciation and the factors that
influence the students’ pronunciation in reading text from the rural and urban areas.
The subject of this research is the perception of students in SMKN 5 Bone
especially XI ATPH 2 and in SMKN 7 Bone especially XI Multimedia 1 by giving
narrative text for the title is “The Ant and the Dove”. This research uses qualitative
research type. The instrument of this research is reading text. In collecting data, this
study used interviews and test. In analyzing the data, this research used several
techniques namely, (1) data reduction, (2) data display, (3) verification data. Subjects
in this research are XI ATPH 2 at SMKN 5 Bone and XI Multimedia 1 at SMKN 7
Bone.
The results of this research is students pronunciation in reading text and
students reading ability in urban areas is more prominent than the students ability in
rural areas because students pronunciation, intonation, and understanding of reading
in urban areas (SMKN 7 Bone) is better than students in urban areas (SMKN 5 Bone)
this is evidenced by the results of research conducted by researcher is two schools at
SMKN 5 Bone and SMKN 7 Bone.
Based on the student’s interview, the researcher got the data about the factors
that influence the students’ pronunciation in reading text and the test is to know the
students’ pronunciation in reading text and the researcher record the sound of the
students
A. Conclusion
Based on the discussion, the researcher draw conclusion of the the
students’ pronunciation in reading text and the factors that influence the
students pronunciation in reading text from the rural and urban areas at
SMKN 5 Bone and SMKN 7 Bone. According to the research finding, the
researcher concludes that students pronunciation in reading text is students in
urban area is more prominent than the students pronunciation in rural area
because students pronunciation, intonation, and understanding of reading in
urban areas (SMKN 7 Bone) is better than students in urban areas (SMKN 5
Bone) This is evidenced by the results of research conducted by researcher is
two schools at SMAN 18 Bone and SMKN 7 Bone.
Based on the student’s interview, the researcher concludes the
factors that influence the students’ pronunciation in reading text from the
rural and urban areas. There are three factors are native language, age, and
identity.
B. Suggestion
The researcher gives suggest to all readers and especially for teachers or
lecturers and students :
1. For the Teacher
The teacher should give aware to the student that learning
pronunciation is important in English language. And the teacher should
always motivate the students to learn English.
2. For the students
The students should learn more about English. The students have to
improve their achievements, skills in English, especially, pronunciation skill to
make their speaking to be understood easily. And the students should be more
seriously studying English especially in reading to train their pronounciation.
They should practice speech English by themselves without teacher
3. For the other researcher
Special for the next researcher should begin from now to study about
research methodology , and this research could be a reference to make other
research related to this research.
