HE USE OF DICTOGLOSS AS AN INTERACTIVE METHOD TO IMPROVE STUDENTS LISTENING SKILL AT THE ELEVETNH GRADE OF SMA 13 BONE

The objective of this researcher is to find out whether dictogloss as an interactive method
to improve the students'listening skill at the eleventh grade of SMAN 13 Bone.This research
used experimental method as a research design and quantitative and qualitative (Mix method).
There are two variables in this research; they are independent variable (using dictogloss method)
and dependent variable (Teaching students’ listening skill). The population of this research is the students of SMAN 13 Bone at the eleventh grade in academic year 2020/2021. They were
selected by using purposive sampling that consisted of 30 students. This research was conducted
with applying the dictogloss method to improve the students’ listening skill. The researcher used
pre-test and post-test as a instrument to know the students improvement in listening skill before
and after applying the implementation.The result of the students mean score before and after
implementation, the mean score obtained by the students in the post-test (73,02) is greater than
the mean score of the students in pre-test (58,86). It assumes that the effects of dictogloss method are very helpful to improve students' listening skill because there are significant’ improvement from students after the implementation is done.
From the result above, it proves that the use ofdictogloss method is interesting in
improving the students’ listening skill. Therefore, the researcher suggests that dictogloss method
should be used in teaching listening skill to make the students enjoy following the English
learning.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concluded the result of this research show that studying listening skill
through dictogloss method could improve the students’ listening skill.
1.The use of dictogloss as an interactive method improved the students’
listening skill. It can be seem from the table of both score show that students’
mean score in post test (73,20) is higher than the mean score of the students
in pre-test (60,53).
2.The students are interested in using dictogloss method. it could be understood
that the students’ listening skill after using dictogloss in listening skill by the
result of questionnaire and interview.
B. Suggestion
In view of the fact that dictogloss method had been proved to improve
the students’ listening skill, the researcher would like to give suggestions as
follows:
1.The teachers could use dictogloss method as reference in teaching listening
skill. Therefore, the teachers were always stimulating the students‟ interest
and motivate them in learning listening skill also The teacher should be
creative. Moreover, the education system needs them to improve the teaching
skill according to the up to date technology. Nowadays, the internet is widely
used by lots of people. There are many websites that can be accessed to get
new teaching method.
2.The students of SMAN 13 Bone at the eleventh grade could improve their
interest in English, especially in listening skill. This method is really helpful
to the students because they can understand well the main story what listen.
3.For the other researcher, it is suggested that other researcher used the research
results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar
topic in the same design to improve the students’ listening skill with different
method.
