The Use of The Self Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) On Students’ Writing Ability For Eleventh Grade

The aim of this research is to find out contribution the Self Regulated
Strategy Development (SRSD) to students’ writing ability for eleventh grade. In this
research, the researcher used qualitative approach and conducted virtual classroom
research. This research carried out in four particpants. The data were collected via
observation and interview. Then, for data analysis, the researcher adapted two data
analysis that included textual analysis and content analysis.
Based on the qualitative data, the researcher gave instruction the stages of
SRSD with POW and TREE strategy. The result shows that the SRSD gave
contribution on students’ reason and linking words. students presented reasons that
related to their topic and good linking words used. on the side, students were still
weak to understand the implementing of POW and TREE strategy. However, students
could not pick ideas to present all the elements of TREE, students could write more
ideas to supporting their topic, and all the students could not present a good ending.
During the instruction, students were less active and did not communicative. While
the students’ perception about The Self Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD)
shows positive feedbacks such as the students get a new learning strategy to be
applied in writing effectively, and new insight as well as new vocabulary, linking
words, and trick in writing essay.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher can concluded in following description below:
1. There were three points in implementating SRSD on writing opinion essay.
That were POW, TREE , and linking words. For the implementation POW,
the students could not pick ideas that fulfill TREE, the students’ ideas
orginezed were still low and they were lack of developing ideas. However,
the implementation of linking words, all students demonstrated good linking
words used. The SRSD gave positive contribution on students’ reason and
linking words. All students showed good outcome in reasons and they used
appropriate linking words that can connect between each reason.
2. The students’ perception about The Self Regulated Strategy Development
(SRSD) shows positive feedbacks such as the students get a new learning
strategy to be applied in writing effectively, and new insight as well as new
vocabulary, linking words, and trick in writing essay.
B. Suggestion
The result of this research was hopefully can inform to the other
research about the contribution SRSD on students’ writing ability. For the
other researcher can pay more attention which writing strategy used in SRSD
can give good and weak contribution on students’ writing ability.
The good contribution was on students giving reasons to their essays
and linking words used. while the weak contribution was on POW and TREE
strategy implementation. Students could not pick ideas to present all the
elements of TREE, students could write more ideas to supporting their topic,
and all the students could not present a good ending. Thus, for the other
researcher can pay more attention to the implementation of POW and TREE
strategy on SRSD instruction.
