Investigating The Effect Of Audio-Visual On Indonesian English Foreign Language (Efl) Learners’ Listening Skill At Man 1 Bone

Indonesian EFL learners. The sample of this research was the students of second
grade at MAN 1 Bone. They were selected by cluster sampling that consists of 10
students. This research is a quantitative research, which used experimental study as
a research design. The researcher use test and questionnaire as a instrument. Test
was used to analyze the effectiveness of audio-visual effect in students listening
skill and the questionnaire was used to determine the application of audio-visual
learning media to students learning outcomes.
The researcher concluded the result of this research show that studying
listening through audio-visual is one of media that effective on investigating
Indonesian English Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ listening skill. It can be seen
from the table of Chi-Square Tests. Pearson Chi-Square section, the Asimp.sig (2-
tailed) value of 0.040 is due to the Asimp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.040> 0.05, so it
can be concluded that Ho is accepted, which means "audio-visual is effective media
for the students’ listening skill.
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concluded the result of this research show that studying listening through
audio-visual is one of media that effective on investigating Indonesian English
Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ listening skill. It can be concluded as follows:
1. Applying audio-visual media to students' listening skill with the very
high category with an average of 44.80 or 89.60%. It is mean that
students give a positive response to the application of audio-visual
media.
2. Students' test results on the listening test were 83% with good
category.
3. The effect of audio-visual media can be seen from the table of Chi-
Square Tests. Pearson Chi-Square section, the Asimp.sig (2-tailed)
value of 0.040 is due to the Asimp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.040> 0.05,
so it can be concluded that Ho is accepted.
Therefore, there is an effect of the application of audio-visual learning
media on the listening skill of class XI students at MAN 1 BONE.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that the audio-visual media has been proved is an significant
method for students listening skill, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as
follows:
1. For the teacher
The teacher could use audio-visual as references media in teaching listening
skill. Therefore, the teacher were always stimulate the students’ interest and motivate
them in learning. It could help in teaching speaking, listening, phonetic phonology, or
cross culture understanding. This method gave the students much variant subject
video that can make the students interest.
2. For the students
Considering this method, the researcher suggests the students to learn English
by using this method. It can be easier to learning English acquisition or learning
English comprehension.
3. For the other researcher
It is suggested that other researcher may use the research results as
information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in the same
design about the effectiveness of audio-visual with different subject.
