Increasing Students’ Vocabulary Through Kim (Keyword, Information, And Memory Clue) At The Eleventh Grade Students Of Man 2 Bone

The researcher conducts research about “Increasing Students „Vocabulary
Using Kim (Keyword Information, and Memory Clue) At the Eleventh Grade
Students of Man 2 Bone”. The objective of this research is to find out whether the use
of English stories as a learning media improve the students vocabulary or not. The
researcher focuses on KIM strategy. The dependent variable of this research students‟
vocabulary and the independent KIM Strategy. In this research, the researcher used
quantitative method by using pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test. The
pre-test was given before treatment and post-test was given after treatment to find out
the improvement students‟ vocabulary. The researcher used total sampling, the
researcher chose the sample 1 class that consisted 20 students. They are students from
11th of MAN 2 Bone. The result of this research shows that there is significant
improvement of the student vocabulary, it also can be proved by the sig.(2-tailed) is
0,000,00 which mean H0 is rejected and H1 is
accepted. It proved that K.I.M strategy could help students in learning English
especially in mastering the vocabulary. The reasons that make students have
significant achievement by using KIM strategy are First, K.I.M Strategy gives the
most significant influence in memorizing new vocabularies (key words). However,
after taught by using K.I.M Strategy, the students can understand the meaning and
master the vocabulary better than before. Second, K.I.M Strategy helps students in
recognizing new vocabulary by organizing the idea (information) about the key words
(vocabularies).
B. Suggestion
Based on the research result and conclusion in this research, the researcher
provides the following suggestions:
1. For teacher
English teacher should know the students‟ needs and students need and
students‟ interest during learning process. The teacher should find out the best
method or strategy to motivate the students in learning and solve the students
problem in learning English
2. For students
Learning English is essential for life nowadays. The students must be active
to learn and memorize the vocabulary as it is the basic of learning English.
3. For next researcher
Due to this research gave quite good result, it is expected that other next
researcher can do better that this research and provide the better result
