The Effectiveness of Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) in Student Reading Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 Bone

This thesis presented the research about “The Effectiveness of Neurologycal
Impress Method (NIM) in Student Reading Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade of
Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 Bone”. This research used Quantitative method by
using quasi-experimental design. The researcher used two classes including
experimental group and control group. The researcher chose XI exact 5 as the
experimental group and XI exact 6 as the control group. Both of them consist of 35
students. The researcher collected the data in form of number, which aim to analyze
and describe the collected data on the students’ result by compare the students’ pre-
test and post-test result in experimental and control group to determine the successed
of the treatment.
The data analysis showed that the mean score of experimental group is higher
than the mean score of control group 83.5714 > 71.8571 after getting the treatment. It
means that, there is development in students’ reading comprehension after using
Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM). Sig.(2-tailed) in post-test is 0,000, it is lower
than 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). It means that, there is significant difference between
experimental and control group in post test (after giving the treatment). It indicates
that, alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.
Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) get more significant development than
audiolingual method. It means that, Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) is effective
in student reading comprehension
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and the data analyzing that have explained in the
chapter 3, the researcher concludes that students’ reading comprehension
through Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) is effective at the eleventh grade students’ of
MAN 3 Bone. Sig.(2-tailed) in equal variances assumed is 0,000 and in equal
variances not assumed is 0,000. Both of them are < 0,05. It means that there is
significant difference between experimental and control group in post test (after
giving the treatment). It indicates that alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and null
hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, it can be said that there is developing in students’
reading comprehension achievement after applying Neurologycal Impress Method
(NIM) and Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) is effective in students reading
comprehension.
B. Suggestion
In order to improving the students’ reading comprehension, the
researcher gives suggestion to all readers, especially to English teacher and to the
students as follows :
1. The English teacher should be apply an appropriate technique in teaching- learning process that effectively can improving students’ reading comprehension. Thus, Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM) is recommended.
2. The English teacher should be creative to manage the teaching material and the
classroom and do not use monotonous way in teaching reading so that the
students more interested in learning reading English text.
3. The students are expected to increase their interest and ability in learning
reading English text. They can use the Neurologycal Impress Method (NIM)to
facilitate them in learning reading because this method gives many benefits as
explained previously.
