The title of this research is Improving the Students Writing Ability in
Descriptive Text Using Mind Mapping with Guided Question at the Eighth Grade
Students SMPN 2 Cina. This study aimed to improve students writing ability in
descriptive text using mind mapping with guided question. This research used a
quantitative method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The participant
of this research was 26 students of VIII D. The technique which was used in
collecting data was test. It consisted of 1 item for writing test. To analyzed data,
the research used the SPSS application. The students mean score improved, in the
pre-test,the students mean score was 40.50 and the mean score post-test increase
become 69.88 so, after giving the treatment at the experimental group of post-test,
the result showed that there was a student got excellent score the classification
(4%), ten students got good score classification (38%),nine students got average
score classification (33%), four students got fair classification (15%), and two
students got poor classification (8%). At last, the null hypothesis ( ) was
rejected and alternative hypothesis ( ) was accepted, because the criteria H 1 was
accepted if the sig. (2-tailed) is 000
