A Descriptive Study in Indonesian Secondary School Students’ Motivations in English Language Learning through Hello English Application as an Interactive Game as a Learning Tool

This research conducted to find out the students’ motivations and perceptions toward Hello English application as an interactive game in learningEnglish in Indonesian Secondary school. The research designs used Virtual Classroom Research. The data collection methods are observation and interview. The data analysis are Textual Analysis and Content Analysis.
The result shows that the students feel enjoy learning English through Hello English application. They are interested to learn English by expressing their ideas toward the application.Other contributions are the students get new insight to expand widely their thinking and positive value that will make them be qualified individual such as be self-motivated, self-awareness and self-interest.
Most of students clarify that Hello English application is effective to apply in learning process such as: the students are more motivated in learning; make students easilyunderstand the material; get the opportunity for fair turn in practicing the material; less boredom in learning. They also learn enthusiastically in teaching learning activities. In addition, through Hello English application the students are able to increase their speaking ability especially in pronuncing a word correctly. Therefore, Hello English application has an impact that it needs to purchase coins for unlock some level. It gives this application a disadvantage to use it.
A.Conclusion
Based on the finding, it can be concluded that Hello English application as an interactive game has effect toward students’ motivations in learning English at Eleventh MIPA 1 grade of SMAN 3 Bone. It is proven by the data of in-depth observation and in-depth interview. As long as of teaching and learning process, the students are active to learn the material and play the game. They are enjoyable the learning when the researcher overview them. It means, they are enthusiasm and get motivation in learning English through Hello Engliah application. In addition, the students have intrinsic motivation because their own desire and their own pleasure. On the other hand, Hello English application have some advantage such as the material explanation is very clear and the application contains more than 250 lessons. It helps them more confidence for learn english. Although, it needs to purchase coins for unlock some level.
B.Suggestion
In fact, the implementation of Hello English application has been proven more effective. Therefore, the researcher would like to give some suggestions as follows:
1.For the students
Being aware that English is important language to learn. It is international language, so you can practice your English knowledge through Hello english application.
2.For the English teacher
a.The English teacher should be creative to conduct the method in teaching.
b.The implementation of Hello English application is proven effective to develop students’ motivation in learning English so the English teacher can use it in their practicing in teaching English.
