The Use of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) to Develop Students’ Reading Skill at the eleventh Grade of SMKN 7 Bone

This research aims to see the effectiveness of the use Teams Games
Tournament (TGT) technique in teaching reading of narrative text at the eleventh
grade of SMKN 7 Bone and also to help teacher in making activities interactive
for student in learning reading. The method of this research used quasi
experimental there are two classes, namely the experimental class and controlled
class. In the experimental class, the researcher applied Teams Games Tournament
(TGT) and in controlled class without applied Teams Games Tournament or the
researcher applied conventional teaching strategy. The instrument of this research
was reading test. In reading test, the result of the data indicated that there is a
significant difference between students’ post-test in both experimental and
controlled class. In experimental class, the total mean score of post-test is 64.44 is
greater than the total mean score in controlled class is 49.26. Shown from result of
hypothesis test by using Paired Sample T-test the researcher found that the sig. (2-
tailed) 0.000
