Teaching Writing Procedure Text by Using Youtube Video at The Tenth Grade Students of SMAN 14 Bone

This research is aimed to improve the students’ability in teaching writing
procedure text by using youtube video to the tenth grade students of SMAN 14
Bone.The subject of the research is conducted to the X-MIPA1students grade of
SMAN 14 Bone. The class consist of 31 students. The objective of the researchis to
know the use of youtube video effective in teaching writing procedure text to the
tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 14 Bone.
The researcher uses pre-experimental method with the form of quantitative
approach to analyze the data. Quantitative approach stresses the analysis to the
numerical data that is processed by statistical method. It explained the result of pre-
test and post-test. The design of the research is one group pre test and post test
design. The comparison pre-test and post-test score depend on the success of the
treatment. The quantitative data are taken from the student’s test. In this research
there are seventh meetings and they are pre-test and post-test. This research use
simple random sampling. The researcher takes one class, it is X Exact 1consist of 31
students as a sample of the research.
The result of the research show the mean score in the pre-test is 72,4 and there
are 20 students (64.5) who get the score ≤ 75, there are 11 students (35.4) who get
≥75. The mean score in the post-test was 80.2 and there are 29 students (93.5) who
get the score ≥ 75 and the students who get ≤ 75 there are 2 students (6.45). Based on
the test sheet the improvement show that the students can be active, enthusiastic,
diligent, brave, spirit and the students can write procedure text by using youtube
video is effective in teaching writing procedure text.
A. Conclusion
The objective of the research is to know the use of youtube video effective or
not in teaching writing procedure text to the tenth grade students of SMAN 14 Bone.
In order to gain the objective of the research, the researcher conduct an pre-
experimental approach.
After conducting the research and analyzing the data, the researcher find out
the results. The result show that, in the pre-test the students still confuse about the
material and can’t organize well their ideas. It gives influence in the Students’
achievement. From the table it show in the pre-test there are 11 students who able to
pass the passing grade 75. Meanwhile, in the post-test the students experience a
significant increase, it proves that from the table show that the result of post-test there
are 29 students who pass the passing grade 75. It means more than 90% students can
improve their writing procedure text by using youtube video. It proves that teaching
writing procedure text by using youtube video is more effective.
B. Implication
The result of the research shows that using video in teaching procedure text
writing is more effective and give significant difference in the writing achievement than
using textbook. It means that video is appropriate media to be used in teaching procedure
text writing in SMAN 14 Bone especially in the tenth grade students. The selection of
teaching using video is reasonable because it is based on the condition of the students.
They are more active in the classroom. The conclusion has some implications as follows:
1. Teaching procedure text writing using youtube video can be applied to the students of
senior high school especially for the tenth grade students.
2. Teaching using video builds students more active. It can motivate students to express
their ideas in written and write that based on their own words on the paper.
B . Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher gives some suggestions as
follows:
a. For the teachers
Teaching English is difficult, so to make the students interested in this subject,
the teacher should use various media in teaching writing. Teacher can use appropriate
media and method based on the situation. The suitable choice of teaching media and
method can make teaching learning process run well.
b. For the students
The students should be active in teaching learning process and do more
practices in writing. The students have to improve their competence in writing and be
confidence to making sentences and paragraphs in writing. The students have to be
brave whenever they meet difficulties, asks the teacher to help them solving the
problem.
c. For the researcher
The result of this research can be use as an additional reference for a similar
research with different variables. Other researchers can develop with their other
material which is suitable for the teaching learning process of English lesson.
