The Effectiveness of Jigsaw Strategy to Improve students’ Skill in Writing Recount Text at The Eleventh Grade of Students at Ma Yapit Taretta

This thesis presents research aboutthe effectiveness of jigsaw strategy to
improve students’ skill in writing recount text at the eleventh grade of students at MA
Yapit Taretta. This research used quantitative method which used pre-experimental
research with one group pre-test and post-test. The researcher used cluster sampling.
The sample consisted of 14 students from the XI IPA of MA Yapit Taretta. The
researcher gave pre-test, treatments, and post-test. The data on the students’ skill in
writing were analyzed by using SPSS 20. The experimental group was given pre-test,
treatment and post-test by using jigsaw strategy.This result of this research shows that
the students have good skill in writing. It can be seen from the comparison data
between the mean score of post-test is significantly higher than pre-test
(75.42>58.87). So, it can be knownthat by using jigsaw strategy, students’ skill in
writing recount text are known good.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and the discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes that:
This research is implemented at the eleventh grade students of MA Yapit
Taretta. It started on 21 th january2019. This research is successful to improve the
students' skill in writing recount text of class XI IPA at MA Yapit Taretta by using
jigsaw strategy. The research is carry out in eight meeting (Pre-test, treatment, Post-
test) and it is successful in improve the students' skill in writing recount text in
several aspects they are content, organization, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics.
This research use jigsaw strategy about recount text as a task to improve the students'
skill in writing recount text. After implementing some treatment, the researcher finds
some good ways to improve the students' skill in writing recount text of class XI IPA
at MA Yapit Taretta by using jigsaw strategy. Those are very important in order to
write good recount text. The feedbacks given by the researcher and their friends are
able to make them aware of their mistakes and they do not repeat them. As the result
their scores are going up significantly. The students who the mean of 75,42 in the
post test. It indicated that they make considerable improvement in some
aspects of writing skills such as content, organization, vocabulary, grammar and
mechanics.
B. Suggestion
In view of the fact that the method of jigsaw has been proved to be effective in
teaching recount text in students’ writing skill, the researcher would like to give
suggestions as follows:
1. For the English teacher must be creative in managing material that must be
integrated into the classroom.
2. For the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggest to the
English teacher especially writing should give the good method or media in
teaching English based on the students’ motivation.
3. For the students, Consider this method, the researcher suggests the students to
learn English by using this method. It can be easier to learning and understand
material of English.
4. For the other researcher. It is suggested that other researcher may use the
research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the
similar topic in the same design about the improvement of using jigsaw strategy
to improve students’ skill in writing recount text.
