the purpose of this study was to analyzes the negative factor that affecting student's speaking ability at students of English education department of sixth semester of IAIN Bone. this research used Qualitative method which generally the researcher was conduct research through observation and interview. The data was collected by using Miles and Huberman technique, among other 1.)Data Reduction, 2.) Data display, 3.) Conclusion/Verification. The result were: lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, lack of content, lack of experience, high of anxiety/anxious, less exercise, using the method of memorizing, pronunciation is not good enough, afraid of being cocky, low self-esteem, pessimist, lazy (moody), factor environment/surrounding, and fear to wrong, especially in grammar. Therefore, based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concludes that there are some negative factors that extremely affecting student's speaking ability. The significant negative factors that affecting student's speaking ability or learner's speaking performance of student at English education department of sixth semester of IAIN Bone are Lack of vocabulary, Low self-esteem, Lack of grammar, High of anxiety, lack of content, lack of motivation, lack of experience, pronunciation is not good enough, and moody.
A. Conclusion
The negative factor that affecting student’s ability is very important to know.
Knowing the factors or the obstacles that affected speaking skill can help the students
to know the things that hold them up to speak and then they will fix it. It is also very
important for the lecturers to know the negative factors that affecting student’s
speaking ability so that they can choose the right material or method that will be
applied in teaching speaking. Based on the result of the analysis in the previous
chapter, the researcher can conclude that students who could not speak up well yet is
because they are lack of language basic skill (including vocabulary and grammar),
low self-esteem, lack of motivation, lack of experience, high anxiety and moody.
So, the answer from the problem statement of this research which the question
is “what are the negative factors that affecting student’s speaking ability” can be seen
below:

5. Pronunciation is not good enough

B. Suggestion
There are some suggestions in relation with the negative factors that affecting
student’s speaking ability that hopefully can be useful for learners when learning and
also for researchers who will discuss about it as a reference.
a. For learners
The learners will be knows the factors that hold them to speak well or
doing oral performance in front of the audience or their friends.
b. For teachers/lecturers
Teachers/lecturer can know the factor that affects student’s
performance so that they can understand what the student’s need in learning
speaking.
c. For researcher
The researcher realizes that there are still some weaknesses in this
paper so the reader of the students who want to study about the negative
factors that affecting student’s speaking ability are suggested to read some
references as the comparison of this research.
