This research was conducted about “Using Peer Review Technique to
Improve Writing Ability in Recount Text to the Tenth Grade of SMAN 18 Bone”.
The objective of this research was to find out whether peer review technique
improved students’ writing ability in recount text or not. In conducting this research,
the researcher used pre-experimental design. The population of this research was 267
students. This research used purposive sampling. The sample of this research was 25.
The data was collected by using students’ test and data was analyzed by SPSS. The
result of the analysis showed that peer review technique was very useful to improve
students’ writing ability. It could be shown by the diffrences of the mean score
obtained by the students in the post-test (69.92) was greater than the mean score of
the students in pre-test (46.56). The researcher inferred that the students’ writing
ability had improvement by using peer review technique.
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher infers the result of this research shows that studying recount text through
by using peer review is one technique that can improve the students’ writing ability.
It can be seen of the students of X MIA 2 at SMAN 18 Bone has improvement in
writing ability after applying peer review technique, especially in recount text. The
researcher proves the data that the most of students get very poor and poor score
classification with mean score of students’ pre-test is 46.56. The students’writing
ability after applying peer review technique significantly improve, it is showed by the
data that most of students get fair and good and only two students get poor
classificationwith mean score of students’ post-test is 69.92.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that peer review technique had been proved to improve the
students’ writing ability especially in recount text, the reseacher would like to give
suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher could use peer review technique as references technique in
teaching writing. Therefore, the students is always stimulate the students’
interest and motivate them in learning writing. Also The teacher should be
creative moreover, the education system needs them to improve the
teaching skill according to the up to date technology. Now days, the internet
is widely used by lots of people. There are many websites that can be
accessed to get new technique in teaching. The equipment also should be
sophisticated and functioned perfectly to the students in class.
2. The students of X MIA 2 at SMAN 18 Bone keep studying English to be
better.
3. The other researcher is suggested that other researcher may use the research
results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar
topic in the same design to improve the students’ writing ability with
different subject.
