Improving the Student’s Vocabulary Mastery by Using Guess Picture Words Application at the Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 4 Cenrana

This thesis presents the research about “Improving the Student’s Vocabulary
Mastery by Using Guess Picture Words Application at the Ninth Grade Students of
SMPN 4 Cenrana”. This research used quantitative method by using pre-experimental
design. The researcher choose IX A class that consist of 20 students. The researcher
collected the data in form of number, which aim to analyze and describe the collected
data on the students’ result by compare the students’ pre-test and post-test result to
determine the successed of the treatment.
The data analysis shows the result of sig. (2-tailed) of paired sample t test
(0,000) is smaller than 0,05. It means there is a significant improving in students’
vocabulary mastery result after using Guess Picture Words Application.
A. Conclussion
Based on the findings and the data analyzing that have explained in the
chapter 3, the researcher concludes that Students’ Vocabulary Matery can improve
by using Guess Picture Words Application at the ninth grade students’ of SMPN 4
Cenrana. The data shows that the vocabulary mastery at the ninth grade students of
SMPN 4 Cenrana before applying Guess Picture Words Application is still low but it
improves after applying Guess Picture Words Application. It can be proved by the
mean score of pre-test and post-test. The mean score of students’ pre-test is 56,75
and in post-test is 82,50. The students’ standard deviation of pre-test is 13,50195 and
the post-test is 12,40755. It shows that the mean score of post-test is higher than the
mean score in pre-test (82,50 > 56,75). So, it can be said that there is improving of
the students’ vocabulary mastery achievement after applying Guess Picture Words
Application in the teaching vocabulary mastery.
B. Suggestion
In order to improving the students’ vocabulary mastery, the researcher gives
suggestion to all readers, especially to English teacher and to the students as follows :
1. The English teacher should apply an appropriate technique in teaching-learning
process effectively because it can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. So,
Guess Picture Words Application is highly recommended.
