This thesis presents research about Language Description and Task Design
in ELT Materials: a Study Case of Learners Perception on the Teaching Knowledge
Test (TKT) Course Book. This research used qualitative method. The sample
consisted of 15 learners from IAIN Bone.
This thesis is intended to find out the Learners Perception on the Teaching
Knowledge Test (TKT) Course Book about Language Description and Task Design
in ELT Materials. By implementing interview, it is found that language description
and task design in the TKT Course Book uses vocabulary that easy to understand in
composing sentence, Aside from the easy vocabulary in each sentence preparation,
the explanation from the lecturer of TEFL also greatly influences learners
understanding. The task design differs depending on each unit and different media in
each unit. As for the type of task that is oral and written, this is miserable for the
material or from the lecturer instruction of the course. Therefore, the Teaching
Knowledge Test (TKT) Course Book can be a reference for learners or teachers in the
classroom to improve competence as a teacher or prospective teacher. This research
can help provide the right solution for teacher or prospective teacher to provide an
affective task design in each classroom learning.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of finding and discussion in the previous finding and
discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded that using interview to
know learners perception.
1. The language description in the TKT Course Book uses vocabulary that
easy to understand in composing sentence. Learners easily absorb the
material contained in the book because the use of simple vocabulary and
materials is not dense. Aside from the easy vocabulary in each sentence
preparation, the explanation from the lecturer of TEFL also greatly
influences learners understanding;
2. The task design in the TKT Course Book is different. Each unit has
different materials and each material has a different task and different
media.
B. Suggestions
There are some suggestion pertaining to the language description and task
design in ELT materials especially for teaching TEFL using TKT Course Book.
1. For Learners
The learners who will become teacher in the future can make this research
as a reference in understanding language description and task design in
the TKT Course Book. This research can help provide the right solution
for teacher or prospective teacher to provide an affective task design in
each classroom learning.
2. For Researcher
The researcher realize that there are still some weaknesses in this paper so
that reader of the learners who want to study about language description
and task design in ELT material are suggested to read some references as
the comparison of this, because requires as special attention to improve
the understanding about the language description and task design.
