Improving Students’ Translation Ability Through Islamic Story as an Instructional Learning Material at the Eleventh Grade Students’ of MA (Secondary School Senior High School) Taccipi

This thesis presented research about Improving Translation Ability through
Islamic Story as an Instructional Learning Material at the Eleventh Grade Students of
MA (Secondary school senior high school) Taccipi. This research used quasy
experimental design. The researcher uses Islamic story as a media to improve
students translation ability. This thesis aims to improve students translation ability
through Islamic story. The data was collected by using students test and data was
analysed by SPSS application. The result of the research shown that Islamic story
useful to improve the students’ translation ability. It can be shown by the differences
of the mean score in experimental group, the students’ post-test (81.3333) > students’
pre-test (61.7500) while in control group the students’ post-test (75.9167) > pre-test
(72.9167). It could be stated that there was improvement both of group after
treatments, but the students’ post-test score of experimental group was higher than
the students’ post test score of control group (81.3333 > 75.9167). Then the data of
pos-test in experimental and control group showed that Sig (2-tailed) .000 < 0,05.
The researcher inferreds that the students’translation ability improve through Islamic
story as an instructional learning material.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion above, the researcher came to
conclusion. After analyzing the focus translate to students using Islamic stories, the
research shows that studying translation by using is one material that can improve
translation ability. Before applying treatment by using Islamic story is still low but it
improve after treatment. It can be proved by the mean score of students’ pre-test
61,7500 and in post-test 81,3333. Then the data of post-test in experimental group
and control group showed that Sig. (2-failed) .000 < 0,05. It can be stated that there
was significance different both of post-test. The students’ involvement and classroom
interaction during the implementation of the media were improved. It was showed by
students’enthusiasm during translation. They tried translation the islamic story as best
they can during post-test. Different when given a pre-test, students translate according
to word for word translation. Therefore, it can be said that there is improving students
translation ability through Islamic story at the eleventh grade students of MA Taccipi.
B. Suggestion
1. The teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for
teaching translation such as Islamic story.
2. The teacher should be creative in applying new strategies, methods, and
media for students to improve their ability in studying translation.
