Increasing Students’ Vocabulary Knowledge through Webtoon Application as an Instructional Learning tool at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 4 Watampone

This thesis presents the research about Increasing Students Vocabulary
Knowledge through Webtoon Application as an Instructional Learning Tool at the
Eighth Grade of SMPN 4 Watampone. There are 28 students of VIII D at the eighth
grade of SMPN 4 Watampone. This research uses quantitative method. The
researcher uses webtoon application as an instructional media to increase students’
vocabulary achievement.
This thesis aims to increase students vocabulary knowledge through Webtoon
Application as an instructional learning tool. The data was collected by using
students test and data was analysed by SPSS. The result of the analysis shows that
Webtoon Application useful to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement. It can
be shown by the diffrences of the mean score obtained by the students in the post-test
(75.1786) is greater than the mean score of the students in pre-test (43.5714). The
researcher inferreds that the students’ vocabulary achievement increase through
Webtoon Application.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes the result of this research shows that studying vocabulary
through Webtoon Application as An Instructional Media is one material that can
increase the students’ vocabulary achievement. Before applying webtoon application
is still poor but it increase after applying Webtoon Application. It can be proved by
the mean score of pre-test in post-test. The mean score of students’ pre-test is 43.5714
and in post-test is 75.1786. Therefore, it can be said that there is increase in students’
vocabulary achievement after applying Webtoon Application.
B. Suggestion
In order to increasing Students’ Vocabulary Achievement the reseacher would
like to give suggestions to all readers as follows:
1. The English teacher should be creative to manage the teaching material and
the classroom and do not use monotonous way in teaching vocabulary that
the students more interested in learning vocabulary. Therefore, Webtoon
Application is recommended.
2. The students of SMPN 4 Watampone especially at the eighth grade have to
increase their ability in English, especially vocabulary achievement.
3. For the other researcher it is suggested that other researcher may use the
research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with
another application to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement.
