The objectives of the research entitled” Analyzing the Students Difficulties in
Learning English Vocabulary in the Classroom at the Second Grade of MTs Cina”
The main issues discussed in this thesis; 1) What are the students difficulties in
learning English vocabulary? 2) What is the factor that caused the English learning
difficulties?
To achieve the above objectives, researcher used a qualitative research
approach with qualitative descriptive research. Data collection was carried out using
the method of questionnaire, interviews, and documentation carried out on students.
This research was carried out at second grsde of MTs Cina.
The findings showes that the students still faced the problems or difficulties in
vocabulary learning. Kinds of difficulties faced by students in vocabulary learning are
various. Kinds of difficulties faced by the students 1) almost all of the students have
difficulties in pronouncing the words, 2) how to write and spell, 3) the students found
difficulties in choosing the appropriate meaning of the words, and 4) also still confuse
in using the word based on the context. There are some factors that caused students‟
difficulties in learning vocabulary 1) the written form is different from the spoken
form in English, 2) The number of words that students need to learn is exceedingly
large, 3) the incorrect pronunciation is often caused by the lack of sound similarity
between English and the students‟ native language, 4) the limitations of sources of
information about words, 5) Conflict in learning environment, 6) unmotivation, and
7) learn regularly or monotonously without variation and do something under
pressure.
A. Conclusions
Based on the theories, the findings and the analysis, the present study arrives
at the conclusions. This study revealed that problems or difficulties faced by the
students in vocabulary learning are various. The difficulties faced by the students are
almost all of the students have difficulties in pronouncing the words, how to write
and spelling. In addition, the students find difficulties in choosing the appropriate
meaning of the words and also still confuse in using the word based on the context.
There are some factors that caused students‟ difficulties in learning
vocabulary (1) the written form is different from the spoken form in English, (2) The
number of words that students need to learn is exceedingly large, (3) the limitations
of sources of information about words, (4) The incorrect pronunciation is often
caused by the lack of sound similarity between English and the students‟ native
language.
B. Suggestions
Based on the results of the research, discussion, and conclusions stated above,
the researcher advises:
1. Students are expected to be able to continue to increase the motivation to learn
to take advantage of all the learning resources that exist, so that saturation can
be overcome so as to get good results in the learning process in accordance
with the expected.
2. The teacher should try to develop a vocabulary teaching materials that suit the
needs of learners, particularly about pronunciation, spelling and meaning.
3. Students are expected to always learn and read books or resources related to
English vocabulary in order to have that much so being able to smoothly in
pronunciation, spelling and choosing the meaning of the word according to
the context.
