Analysis the Students’ Vocabulary through Visual Vocabulary Application in Mobile Assisted Language Learning Of English Study Program in IAIN Bone

This thesis focused to analyze the students’ vocabulary through visual
vocabulary application in mobile assisted language learning of English study
program of IAIN Bone. This research was analyzed in qualitative data which
collected by first interview, observation, and second interview. This research took
place in IAIN Bone in first semester of English study program. The researcher
took 10 students as sample. In analyzing data, the researcher used visual
vocabulary application.
The result of the second interview showed that most students answered
wrong because they did not know and they were fooled by the choice of answered.
While students who answered correctly because they really knew and they had
learned vocabulary especially the preposition vocabulary. In using the visual
vocabulary application some students had no difficulty when using the application
and some students had difficulty when using the visual vocabulary application
because they did not understand the meaning of the visual images provided.
Student opinion after using the application was very good for improving the
students’ vocabulary skill. Visual vocabulary application was easy to used, no
internet required.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and the discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concluded that:
The results of the first interview showed that among 26 students, there
were 2 students had used the application, namely English vocabulary and
grammar & vocabulary. All of the 26 students had been never used the visual
vocabulary application.
The successful of this research could be clearly seen from the result of the
observation, where 2 students got excellent classification, 6 students got good
classification, 2 students got poor classification. It could be seen that students was
good English vocabulary. It means that some students of the first semester of TBI
still have a good participation vocabulary skill class.
The result of the second interview showed that most students answered
wrong because they did not know and they were fooled by the choice of answers.
While students answered correctly because they really knew had learned
vocabulary especially the preposition vocabulary. In using the visual vocabulary
application some students had no difficulty and some of them were not because
they did not understand the meaning of the visual images provided. Students’
opinion after using the application was very good for improving the vocabulary.
Visual vocabulary application is easy to used, no internet required.
B. Suggestion
Having implemented visual vocabulary application as a part of mobile
assisted language learning to help the student’s vocabulary, the researcher
would like to present some suggestion as follow:
1. It is strongly suggested that using visual vocabulary as a part of mobile
assisted language learning in learning English vocabulary be
continually implemented in IAIN Bone in order to avoid monotonous
material.
2. The selection topic to the students and curriculum can be used in the
class.
